Chapter 1579: Chapter 1579

Holding up her phone, she added, “I was just about to book a cab.” The source of th?s content is F?nd-Novel.net

“That won’t be necessary.” A breath of relief escaped Ernest. “Glad I made it in time. If you’d ended up in a cab today, I’d probably spend the next month trying to make it up to you.” The way he said it…

Elissa found herself caught off guard. It almost sounded like they were in a close, loving relationship.

To the others in the room—especially Becker, though—it looked exactly like that. Louisa leaned toward her daughter, shooting her a quick glance before whispering, “See what I mean? Quit doubting. Elissa really struck gold this time.”

Although the comment was directed at Bonnie, the envy in Louisa’s voice slipped through.

“Humph.” Bonnie let out a faint scoff. “Don’t jump to conclusions just yet.” Louisa blinked in surprise. “He showed up himself. How could this be anything but real?”

“Yes, he’s here,” Bonnie replied. “But all that confirms is they’re acquainted and nothing more… Maybe they’re just casually involved.”

Lowering her voice, she leaned toward her mother and muttered, “Mr. Flynn’s been with that actress, Linda Harris, for more than a decade. What chance does Elissa have in comparison?”

“Huh?” Louisa stared at her daughter, confused. “Is that true?”

“It is.” Bonnie gave a short nod and tossed a glance toward Elissa. “If you ask me, Elissa’s just a temporary distraction. Once he gets bored, she’ll be gone. And look at her—acting like she’s already won.”

“I thought so.” Louisa’s tone shifted, now filled with certainty. “A man like Mr. Flynn could have any woman he wants. What would make him settle for someone like Elissa?”

“Exactly.”

While they speculated, Ernest had already stepped in to handle the bags, personally loading them into the car and then driving Addy home himself.

Not once during the ride did Elissa find an opening to speak with him. Once they reached the Holland residence, Elissa guided Addy carefully into his room.

“You should lie down for a while, Grandpa.”

“I’m alright,” Addy replied with a light nod. “Go on and keep Mr. Flynn company.”

“It’s not polite to leave a guest alone.”

“I will; don’t worry.”

As she stepped out into the hallway, she nearly collided with Ernest.

“Would you like something to drink?” Elissa gestured toward the kitchen. “I can grab you a bottle of water.”

“That’d be nice.” Ernest gave a small nod and walked alongside her.

At the fridge, Elissa pulled out a bottle and handed it to him. “So… what brought you here today?”

After uncapping the bottle and taking a slow sip, Ernest met her gaze. “Before I answer, don’t take it the wrong way. You have to promise not to be mad.”

Elissa’s brows drew together. “What did you do this time?”

“Don’t jump to conclusions,” Ernest said in a rush. “Thing is… your company’s CEO and I go way back. He mentioned you’d taken the afternoon off, so I figured you might be at the hospital.”
