Chapter 1578: Chapter 1578

“Okay.” Without another word, Elissa headed off to take care of the discharge forms.

When she made her way back, Louisa and Bonnie were just about done with the last of the packing.

“So, Elissa.” Bonnie turned to her, voice innocent but eyes sharp. “Where’s your boyfriend? Didn’t he come with you?”

Rumor had it—courtesy of Louisa—that after the divorce, Elissa started seeing someone new, supposedly the CEO of Flynn Group. How could that even be true?

Considering Elissa’s situation, Bonnie couldn’t believe it for a second.

Her lips curved into a sugary smile, but her gaze was icy as she spoke. “Grandpa’s going home today—it’s kind of a big deal. Don’t you think your boyfriend would want to be here?”

Elissa turned her head slightly, catching Bonnie’s expectant look—calm, composed, clearly waiting for things to escalate.

Without much expression, she answered, “He’s caught up with work.”

Before the silence could stretch too long, Addy spoke up, not wanting to leave his eldest granddaughter cornered. “Mr. Flynn runs an enormous company. It’s only natural he’s swamped.”

A gentle smile curved on Bonnie’s lips. “That may be true,” she said with measured politeness. “But if he truly valued you, Elissa, he would’ve made time for today. This isn’t just any day, after all.”

The message behind her words was pointed. Bonnie wasn’t just making conversation—she was casting doubt on Ernest’s commitment to Elissa. Not missing the jab, Elissa’s lips curled ever so slightly, her amusement thinly veiled.

She saw exactly what Bonnie was doing, and she had no plans to justify herself. “Are all things packed?” Elissa’s voice was steady as she asked. “If we’re ready, let’s head downstairs. I’ll call a cab.”

They couldn’t squeeze into Becker’s vehicle—not with Elissa joining them—so another ride was the only option. Read complete version only at find?novel.net

Knock, knock…

A few light taps landed on the already open hospital room door.

Framed in the doorway, Ernest appeared once again—tall, composed, and still lowering his hand from the knock.

His eyes found Elissa instantly, and though he smiled at her, his greeting went to Addy first. “Apologies for being late, Mr. Holland.”

“You’re right on time.” Addy straightened slightly on the sofa, returning the smile with ease before throwing a glance at Elissa. “It’s rare for someone as busy as you to stop by, Mr. Flynn. You really don’t have to.”

“Today marks your discharge, Mr. Holland.” Ernest stepped forward and took his place beside Elissa. “There was no way I’d miss a moment like this.”

“That’s very thoughtful of you.” Addy gave a pleased nod, the expression on his face showing more comfort for Elissa’s sake than his own. “I appreciate you making the effort to be here.”

Turning to Elissa, Ernest’s gaze softened. “Sorry, I didn’t arrive earlier. Are you mad? Have the discharge papers been handled? Is there anything you need help with?”

“No need,” Elissa replied with a small shake of her head. “Everything’s settled. We’re ready to head out.”
