Robin suddenly reached out and caught her hand.
She turned, surprised. “What is it?”
He didn’t cross any boundaries or pull her closer. He simply held her hand, looking into her eyes. After a long pause, he said, “Take care on your way back. And… goodbye.”
Elissa froze, her eyes suddenly welling up with tears. “Yeah. Goodbye.”
Robin slowly released her hand.
She gave him a soft smile, opened the door, and stepped out.
She gently shut it behind her and waved. “I’m going now.”
“Alright.”
She turned to leave, but as soon as she did, the smile faded from her face.
Deep down, she knew this goodbye might be their last. She shut her eyes for a moment, her lashes quickly dampening.
Elissa walked slowly, heading back toward the office.
She had taken time off for the court appointment, but work still awaited.
As she reached the building’s entrance, a sleek, familiar luxury car caught her eye. It was parked right out front. Impossible to miss.
Elissa’s face immediately darkened with disapproval. So Ernest hadn’t backed off after all—he’d simply chosen to confront her at the office.
“Miss Holland,” Quentin approached from the opposite direction, inclining his head with practiced formality. “Mr. Flynn requests your presence in the car. He wishes to speak with you.”
Elissa stared at him, bewildered. What could they possibly have left to discuss? With Quentin standing resolutely in her path, she found herself with no choice but to comply.
“Alright.”

She strode across the pavement and slipped into the waiting vehicle. Inside, she noticed that even the driver had disappeared, giving them complete privacy for their conversation.
Elissa positioned herself rigidly, deliberately avoiding Ernest’s gaze. “What is it you want to say? Go ahead.”
A soft, contemptuous laugh escaped Ernest’s lips. “When you rejected me, claiming I was only kind to you because of Locke—was that just a convenient excuse?”
“What?” Elissa gaped at him, genuine confusion washing over her features. “I don’t understand. What exactly are you implying?”
“You don’t understand?”
Ernest’s aristocratic features contorted with restrained tension, his expression growing increasingly ominous. Elissa’s heart faltered. This unfamiliar side of him sent a chill down her spine. For more chapters visit Find★Novel.net
“Then allow me to clarify matters.”
Ernest turned his face slightly, half his visage swallowed by shadows. One eyebrow arched imperiously, his lips pressed into a tight line.
“You dismissed my genuine feelings—because of Robin, didn’t you? What is it? Regret? Hoping for reconciliation with him?”
