Ernest turned to Hadley and said with measured calm, “Even if things can’t work between you and Eric anymore, you’re still family and bound to cross paths again in this lifetime.” He added softly, “You were prepared for that, weren’t you?”
Hadley fell silent, then gave a small nod.
“I understand.”
Early the next morning, Eric arrived at the company. Recently, his schedule had been packed with preparations for the upcoming product launch in partnership with the Flynn Group. It was the Scott Group’s first foray into this field, making the campaign all the more critical—and personal—for Eric.
“Mr. Scott,” Phillips approached with a stack of documents.
“The Flynn Group has selected a spokesperson. Mr. Flynn asked if you have any ions.”
“I’m fine with whatever he decided,” Eric replied, unconcerned. Then he asked casually, “Who did they choose, anyway?”
“It’s…” Phillips hesitated before answering, “Hadley.”
Eric paused. That name had caught him off guard.
“She’s been rising quickly. Not exactly an A-lister, but her appeal is strong, and she has a solid reputation with the public,” Phillips explained.
“She’s one of the most reliable faces among female celebrities right now.”
“I see.” Eric gave a slow nod. With Ernest’s support, Hadley would never be short on opportunities. If anything, it would’ve been odd if she hadn’t received the endorsement.
“Tell Ernest I have no ions. Proceed.”
“Understood.”
The Flynn Group swiftly prepared the paperwork and coordinated with Elvin to finalize the contract. With the launch approaching fast, promotional filming began right after the signing. For the entire week, Hadley remained busy on set.
One morning, as Eric’s car approached the company garage, he noticed a large crowd gathered in the lobby.
“What’s going on there?” he asked Phillips.

It didn’t appear to be an emergency.
Phillips leaned out for a better look, then replied, “They’ve brought in filming equipment. Must be the team shooting promotional materials for the new launch.” He had received a memo from the secretary’s office last night but hadn’t found the right moment to tell Eric.
Upon hearing this, Eric glanced over once more. The crowd was busy, but he didn’t spot Hadley among them. His gaze shifted away.
“Let’s go.”
“Right.”
The car pulled into the garage, and Eric headed straight for his office via the executive elevator.
“Mr. Scott,” Phillips laid the day’s schedule on the desk and added gently, “you should set aside time today to meet Hadley.”
Eric looked up, puzzled.
“Me? Meet her?”
“Yes,” Phillips confirmed.
“She’s our spokesperson, and her performance will directly impact the product’s success—especially sales. If not today, you’ll have to meet her eventually.” He paused to study Eric’s face, then added, “Since she’s already here filming, it’s appropriate that you show your support. This isn’t a short-term collaboration, after all.”
Eric said nothing at first, letting the thought settle. Then he nodded.
