Eric pulled out his phone, opening WhatsApp.
“Send it to me…” He glanced at her, a little shy.
“Shall we exchange contacts?”
Needing to send him the info, Hadley hesitated only briefly before opening WhatsApp.
“Sure.”
“Okay.” Eric pressed his lips together, a faint smile tugging at the corners. Then he lifted his phone and dialed Phillips.
“It’s me. I need you to check something—make it quick.”
“Got it, Mr. Scott.”
In under twenty minutes, Phillips had the details ready. He forwarded them to Eric’s phone, and Eric immediately handed it to Hadley.
“She’s booked a ticket—departure is in twenty minutes.”
“Thank you!”
Hadley glanced at the screen, murmured her thanks, and after a moment’s thought, opened the ticketing app on her own phone.
“You’re going after her?” Eric asked, watching from the side.
“Yes,” Hadley replied with a firm nod. Andrea was a crucial witness—if she slipped away now, there might never be another chance to catch her.
“You’re going alone?” Eric’s brow furrowed with concern.
“Yes.” Hadley had already purchased her ticket. She looked at Eric and gestured.
“You can go now.” She waved dismissively.
“I’ve got to go.”
Eric stood frozen for a beat, watching her stride toward the security checkpoint. He hesitated—then moved.
Hadley scanned her ticket and stepped inside the station.

“I bought a ticket.” He held up his phone.
“I’m coming with you. You’re a woman, and alone—I need to protect you. That’s what Ernest told me.”
He was genuinely worried. And if Ernest knew, he would be worried too.
Hadley blinked, momentarily stunned.
“I can take care of myself.”
“Let’s go.” Eric fell into step beside her, unwavering.
“Ernest told me to take care of you.”
“You are really…” She didn’t know what else to say. Time was pressing in.
“They’re starting to check tickets.”
As they walked, the ticket gate loomed closer.
“This is it…”
They were running short on time. Hadley hesitated briefly, but with Eric urging her forward, she passed through the gate.
Out on the platform, Eric’s long legs carried him ahead at a brisk pace.
