Hadley drew a breath, her voice cautious.
“And then?”
Eric shook his head slowly.
“That’s all. That’s why I wanted to ask. Why would I dream about your brother…?”
“You’re asking me? How should I know?” Relief loosened the tightness in her chest. Shaking her head, she laughed.
“You’re ridiculous. You have a dream and come running to me? Do I look like a psychic or something?”
“But…” Eric frowned, clearly unsettled.
“It felt so real.”
“No matter how real it felt, it’s still just a dream.” Hadley narrowed her eyes, then smirked.
“You carried Brady to your car last night—maybe it got into your subconscious and then you dreamt about it. That sounds reasonable enough to me.”
“No—” Eric quickly shook his head.
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Are you done asking questions?” Hadley was growing impatient.
“Can I go now?”
Eric didn’t reply, only nodded in silence.
“Alright.”
Hadley turned to leave, but after a few steps, she stopped and looked back at him.
Eric perked up, pointing to himself.
“You have something to tell me?”
Hadley took a breath and nodded.
“Yeah. I need a favor.”

“Of course!” Eric replied without hesitation.
Hadley blinked in surprise.
“I haven’t even told you what it is yet, and you’re already agreeing?”
“Then tell me now.” His gaze was earnest.
“Ernest told me to take care of you.”
It was true—Ernest had said that back at the Hayes estate, though he had meant it only for that night.
Eric leaned in slightly.
“So, what is it?”
“It’s just…” Hadley pointed toward the train station. Since she’d come this far, there was no point in hiding it anymore. With Ernest gone, Eric was her only choice.
“Can you help me look up someone’s travel details?”
“Sure,” Eric said with a nod.
“Now?”
“Yes. Right now.”
“Do you have the ID information?”
“I do.” Hadley nodded. Ernest had already investigated Andrea, so she had the details on hand.
“That makes it easy. One moment.”
