“Hmm?” Eric shifted his attention to her, his brows drawing together with mild disapproval.
“Let’s not discuss her. What are you doing here? This place is absolute chaos. Is it somewhere someone of your standing should be?”
Upon hearing that, Megan’s face lit up with joy—he was worried about her.
“I just wanted to find you for dinner.” She jutted out her lower lip in displeasure.
“You’re always so busy. How long has it been since we last shared a meal?”
Eric couldn’t argue with that truth.
“I’m sorry, I’ve been swamped.” Forget dinner—he barely had time to see her at all.
“No need to apologize.” Megan offered a gentle smile.
“Do you have time now to have dinner with me?”
Eric nodded.
“Sure.”
“Let’s go.”
Exiting the alley, they found their cars parked along the roadside. Hadley hadn’t departed yet, lingering by the road as she waited for a cab. Spotting her slender silhouette from a distance, Eric couldn’t suppress another frown.
Beside him, Megan caught his expression.
After a moment of contemplation, she took the initiative to speak.
“This area is quite dangerous. She’s a girl, and it’s not safe. Let’s give her a ride.”
Hearing that suggestion, Eric snorted.
“She won’t agree. She’s the most pigheaded person on the planet!”
Megan lapsed into silence. She had never imagined there would come a day when Eric would speak of Hadley with such exasperation.
Megan gestured behind them.
“You go sit in that car. I’ll go talk to her… Girls find it easier to communicate with each other.”

Hearing that reasoning, Eric thought it might work. After all, Hadley despised his face because it resembled Ernest’s, but she was unlikely to harbor the same animosity toward Megan.
“Can you manage it?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Megan waved dismissively and jogged over to Hadley.
Upon hearing the voice, Hadley turned her head to look, her eyes flashing with surprise.
“Megan?”
“Hadley.” Megan nodded with a warm smile.
“Long time no see.”
“Yes. Long time no see.” Hadley glanced behind her, quickly grasping that Megan must be there to see Eric. She couldn’t help but wonder what their relationship had become.
“Come on!” Megan looped her arm through Hadley’s.
“I have something important to tell you! Get in the car, and I’ll explain everything.”
The sound of engines faded into the distance.
Taking her time, Megan chose her words with care.
“Hadley, I need to ask you something… Do you still have any feelings left for Eric?”
