Chapter 2220: Chapter 2221

“We begin treatment,” Hamza said plainly. Then, after a pause, he added,

“Though I do have another concern.”

“What is it?” Eric asked.

“I spoke with Hadley earlier. From what she described, this episode doesn’t seem to have a clear trigger. Mr. Scott, can you think of anything—any incident, stressor, or change that might have brought this on?”

Eric thought it over carefully, then shook his head. “Nothing comes to mind.” He looked at Hadley and added, “There haven’t been any arguments between us. Nothing out of the ordinary either.”

They hadn’t fought. He hadn’t done anything to upset her.

“That’s unusual. Psychological relapses typically occur when triggered. They don’t just appear without a reason.”

Eric and Hadley exchanged a glance. Her anxiety was growing—he could feel it in the way her fingers tightened around his.

“Dr. Perkins,” Eric said quickly, “let’s proceed with the treatment plan for now.”

“Alright.” Hamza nodded. “Perhaps, as we move forward, something will surface. In the meantime, Mr. Scott, if anything comes to mind—anything at all—please reach out to me.”

“Understood,” Eric replied. “Will she need medication?”

“Not yet. The picture isn’t clear. It’s best to hold off for now,” Hamza answered.

“I see. Thank you, Dr. Perkins.”

“You’re welcome.”

Eric then led Hadley out of the clinic. She walked with her head down, her mood visibly subdued.

“Relax.” He leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. “Didn’t Dr. Perkins just say not to stress yourself?”

“I’m not stressed,” she murmured, lifting her head. Her eyes were filled with unease. “I just don’t understand. Why is this happening?”

Her days had been normal. Nothing had felt off—until now.

Hamza had called it not something to take lightly. She couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling that something was quietly spiraling out of control.

“Do you think it’s serious?” she asked hesitantly.

“It’s not,” Eric’s voice was steady and firm. “And even if it were, we’ve already caught it early.”

He paused, letting a small smile soften his expression. “Even if you can’t trust yourself right now, trust me. Do you really think I’d ever let something happen to you?”

“But…” Hadley’s chest tightened as a familiar fear crept in. A name slipped from her lips. “Milly, she…”

Ferris, for all his wealth and power, hadn’t been able to help Milly, who still hadn’t gotten any better, even now.

“Don’t say that.” Eric’s expression hardened. He exhaled slowly, keeping his voice low. “You’re not the same. At worst, it’s psychological. My mother…” He tapped his temple. “She had a full-blown mental illness.”
