“I’ll handle it.”
Before Elissa could say more, he had already reached for the documents. “Let’s see—quite a few tests, huh? This is too much to juggle on your own. I’ll settle the payment and grab the meds. You go find a wheelchair and take your grandfather to the exam room.”
“Robin!”
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and left. Robin didn’t turn around. His pace quickened.
Elissa’s brows furrowed. Was he truly just here to see a friend?
Pushing the thought aside, she rushed off to find a wheelchair and brought Addy straight to the examination room.
Not long after settling her grandfather in, Elissa’s phone buzzed with a call from Robin asking her to step outside.
“I got it all.” Robin passed her the receipts and the contrast agent. “Everything’s been taken care of.”
“Thanks… let me send the payment to you now.”
“Don’t worry about that. You’ve got more important things to handle right now.” With a chuckle, Robin added, “I should get out of here before your grandpa catches sight of me. That won’t end well.”
In the entire Holland family, Addy remained the one person who never warmed up to him.
“Oh, and one last thing.” Just as he turned to leave, Robin glanced back. “You didn’t bring a car today, did you? I arranged for a taxi. It’ll be waiting out front when you’re finished here. I left your number with the driver, so he’ll reach out and make sure you get home safely.”
That level of care caught Elissa off guard. “I appreciate it…”
“It’s nothing. Just take care of yourself.”
With a casual wave and a final smile, Robin turned and walked off.
Elissa didn’t move right away, her eyes following him as he disappeared into the crowd. This was the Robin she remembered. Back when they were still madly in love, he always paid attention to the smallest things, never missing a beat.
Thanks to Robin’s help, the medical procedures wrapped up sooner than expected. After keeping her grandfather company for a while, Elissa decided to leave the Holland residence before the rush hour began.
After some thought, she reached for her phone and gave Robin a call.
“Hey, Robin.”
“Elissa, hi.”
“Do you have a moment? I wanted to go over the designs with you in person—would now be a good time?”
“Of course. I’m free for the rest of the day.”
“Perfect. I just need to swing by Jewel Avenue to grab them—I brought them home last night. Once I have them, I’ll come straight to the office. It’s along the way, so I won’t take long.”
“Alright, sounds good.”
Once the call ended, Elissa headed straight for Jewel Avenue.
