Chapter 1973: Chapter 1974

Caught off guard, Elissa added, “I wasn’t expecting you today at all. My grandfather’s due for a checkup, and I promised to take him to the hospital.”

“That makes sense,” Robin responded without missing a beat. “Look after your grandfather first. We’ll find time to catch up soon.”

“Sounds good.”

Once their call ended, Elissa let the thought drift away. With her afternoon cleared in advance, she made her way to pick up Addy and set off for the hospital as planned.

During their drive, Addy glanced over and asked, “Elissa, is Mr. Flynn not joining us today?”

Luckily, Elissa already had her response ready. With an easy smile, she replied, “Grandpa, he’s caught up with work right now.”

Addy gave a nod, comforted by her usual calmness. He let the topic drop, not pressing for his “future grandson-in-law” to join them.

“As long as you’re both happy, I can relax.”

“Of course.” Elissa grinned and gently steered the conversation elsewhere. “Grandpa, remember what the doctor said. Once we get to the hospital, you have to take every test. No arguing!”

A sheepish laugh escaped Addy. “I get it, I get it. I’ll follow your orders.”

Inside the hospital, the doctor reviewed Addy’s case and called for several new tests.

“Grandpa, sit tight for a moment.” With her arms full of paperwork, Elissa said, “I’ll handle the payments, pick up your medicine, and ask the nurse for a wheelchair.”

“What a lot of trouble…” A stubborn look settled on Addy’s face as he began to protest. “Maybe we can skip that CT scan?”

“Grandpa, really?” Elissa shot him a sharp look, her frustration plain. “Didn’t you already give me your word?”

“Alright, no need to get upset.” Addy’s tone softened as soon as he noticed her frown. “I just can’t help but worry about you handling all of this by yourself. You’re managing everything alone.”

“That’s honestly not a problem,” Elissa replied, letting out a sigh that was half a laugh. “It’s really not that overwhelming. I can manage just fine.”

Without further comment, she brought the documents to the payment counter.

“Elissa!” The sound of her name rose above the surrounding chatter.

Elissa turned toward the voice and spotted Robin.

“There you are, Elissa,” Robin said, smiling as he made his way through the bustling crowd. “I thought I recognized you from over there—and I was right.”

Elissa paused, caught off guard, her brows pulling together. What in the world was he doing here?

“Why are you at the hospital?” she asked.

“I came to see a friend. Didn’t expect to bump into you like this.” Robin’s eyes dropped to the paperwork she was holding. “Are those for the payment?”

“Yeah… they are.”
