“That’s good.” A flicker of satisfaction lit Louise’s face. “Then listen closely—if you so much as think about sneaking out, I’ll never take those pills again!”
“Okay, okay! Just tell me already!”
“They’re in the bottom drawer…”
Meanwhile, Brady put his phone away and prepared to get to work.
At that moment, he was stationed at the Scott family’s warehouse. A shipment was scheduled for overseas delivery, and he had come to meet the person in charge.
But the manager was still tied up in a meeting, so he waited in the lounge.
Soon, the meeting inside the conference room concluded.
As the double doors swung open, the manager stepped out, walking beside Eric.
“All bays are ready for your inspection, Mr. Scott.”
“Good,” Eric replied with a small nod.
Someone hurried over, leaned close to the manager, and whispered, “Mr. Jenkins is here. He has been waiting a while.”
“Let him wait. I’m attending to Mr. Scott right now…”
Jenkins? Eric’s brow lifted slightly. Could it be Brady Jenkins?
Eric shifted just enough to meet Phillips’ gaze.
That single look was all Phillips needed. He turned to the manager and said,
“Prioritize Mr. Jenkins. Have someone else cover this.”
“But…” The manager faltered, unsure—until Phillips shot him a loaded glance that made it clear this came directly from Eric himself.
“Got it. On it now.”
Without another word, he began redirecting staff and made a beeline for Brady. As he moved, a realization struck him. The young Mr. Jenkins had a direct line to Mr. Scott. It would be best to stay on his good side.

While Eric and Phillips inspected the cargo hold, Brady was wrapping up the handover with the manager on the opposite end. Just as they concluded, Brady’s assistant approached, a note of urgency in his voice.
“Mr. Jenkins, someone outside’s asking for you.”
Brady frowned. “Who is it?”
“Someone called Hayes.”
Hayes? Could it be Colleen?
The name hit like a jolt, but Brady quickly brushed the thought aside. No, it couldn’t be Colleen. Still… perhaps someone from her family?
“Alright. Got it.”
He passed the remaining responsibilities to his assistant and made his way out with growing urgency.
Outside, in the open expanse, Brady moved quickly—then spotted a young man in the distance, flanked by several others.
Recognition came instantly. He’d seen the man before—at Colleen’s birthday party. Nelson Hayes, Colleen’s older brother.
What was he doing here?
