Chapter 1829: Chapter 1830

“Zane?” Her brows lifted. “Is something wrong?”

Hadley could only hear Zane’s voice on the video call. His face wasn’t visible at all.

She glanced at the screen and realized she couldn’t even guess where he was.

“Hadley.” Zane’s voice came through, calm and clear. “Can you tell which one it is?”

That question caught her off guard.

Hadley blinked in confusion, not following what he meant at first. Rows of clothing then appeared in her view—everything organized, modeled, and ready for display.

Her eyes caught two pieces that matched the outfits she had lost—the one she had planned to wear for the event.

A flicker of surprise crossed Hadley’s face.

She focused on the video and pieced it together. Zane must have gone to the designer’s local shop in Ciderbrook. He was showing her the new limited editions for the season.

Hadley’s mouth fell open slightly.

“Hadley?” Zane’s voice took on a worried edge. “Why are you quiet? Is there something similar that will do?”

Hadley snapped to attention and replied, “There are some that look quite like the one I lost.”

“Yeah? Which ones? Tell me!” Zane’s voice brightened.

With a hesitant breath, she scanned the screen again. “The first one. And the third.”

“Perfect! That’s all I needed,” Zane said, lowering his tone as he turned to the staff beside him. “Could you please pack those up for me?”

“Certainly, Mr. Hayes.”

“Alright, Hadley, I’ve picked them up. I’ll bring them over soon. See you in a bit.” Zane turned his attention back to her.

“Zane…”

Before she could react, he had already hung up, leaving Hadley standing there, a little stunned with her phone still in hand. He really meant to deliver those dresses himself? Did he actually know her location? He hadn’t even bothered to ask.

Hadley braced herself, expecting his call to come at any minute. But no call came. Was it possible he already knew where to find her? Yet she hadn’t told him anything about it.

“Hadley.” The makeup artist gave her a wave. “Shall we get back to your makeup?”

“Yes, let’s keep going.” Hadley snapped out of her thoughts.

“Alright.” The makeup artist returned to her work and turned to Chelsey. “Is the dress prepped? She’ll need it later.”

“It’s all set,” Chelsey replied. She had stopped crying and quickly followed Hadley’s earlier instructions, bringing over a different dress they had brought that would work for the event.

She hung it on the rack, carefully steaming out every wrinkle.
