Chapter 1722: Chapter 1723

“I finally understand now. I shouldn’t be with you. Because as long as we are connected, this lunatic will never stop coming after me!”

“Hadley!” Eric’s pupils contracted, and a fire sparked in his eyes. “Don’t say things like that just because you are upset. That will only hurt our relationship!”

“Ha-ha…”

Hadley faltered, then burst into a shaky laugh, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. For original chapters go to Find_Novel(.)net

She stared at him and asked, “Do you think I’m afraid of hurting our relationship? Then let it be ruined! Let it fall apart until there is nothing left! Let it hurt so much that you lose all feelings for me and walk away! Only then will I finally be free!”

She spun on her heel and stormed out of the room.

“Hadley!”

“Mr. Scott!” the caregiver called out anxiously. “You need to come quickly. Miss Harris is trembling all over!”

Eric turned back just in time to see Linda rolling her eyes, her condition spiraling fast.

Suppressing his anger, he instructed tersely, “Call the doctor and give her an injection!”

“Right away!”

The following morning at the Scott estate, Olisvale Bay, Joy was surprised to find her father joining them for breakfast.

Hadley was surprised as well. She knew Eric had left during the early hours. Had he gone to the hospital and returned already? He didn’t seem bothered by the fatigue.

However, she refused to feel sorry for him. After all, he wasn’t doing it for her.

“Daddy, I want a hug!” Joy nestled into Eric’s arms, delighted to be sharing a rare breakfast with him.

“I want to stay with Daddy.”

“Of course, sweetheart.”

Eric smiled, gently agreeing, his eyes subtly drifting toward Hadley now and then.

Since returning home last night, she hadn’t argued with him again. Everything was calm, like it had been the past few days.

Still, Eric sensed that the distance between them had only grown. He wanted to bridge that gap but didn’t know where to start, so he channeled his attention into caring for Joy instead.

Hadley kept to herself, making no effort to engage with the father-daughter pair.

As she ate quietly, her phone buzzed on the table.

It was Elissa calling.

“Elissa, yes… I know. Don’t worry.”

“Was that Elissa?” Eric asked cautiously after Hadley ended the call.

“Did she ask you to go with her to see the doctor?”

“Yes,” Hadley answered casually, dabbing Joy’s mouth clean with a napkin.

She then gently instructed, “After breakfast, be a good girl and head to class with your teacher. I’m going out with Elissa for a bit, but I’ll be back in time to have lunch with you. Alright?”
