chapter709
Murray didn't have the time to worry about Grace's feelings, nor did he pay much attention to the bowl of oatmeal on the table.
He was in a foul mood, and after finishing his work, he finally shut down his
laptop.
That's when he noticed the bowl of oatmeal sitting next to him.
The oats were cooked until they were creamy, filling most of the bowl, with bits of cranberries and nuts sprinkled on top. It was better prepared than anything Millie had ever made for him.
He realized he was a bit hungry. As he picked up the bowl, he noticed it was still warm, intending to just take a few bites.
But the moment he tasted it, he froze.
That flavor...
He glanced down at the oatmeal, his expression suddenly complex.
It tasted just like Roseanne used to make it.
Murray found himself momentarily stunned, feeling as if he was back in time, with Roseanne still by his side.
When he went downstairs, Grace hadn't left yet.
She was sitting on the couch, engrossed in a book. The soft light gave her an aura of calm and quiet elegance, a sense of peace that didn't demand attention.
Hearing his footsteps, she looked up, her previously calm eyes lighting up with a hint of surprise and joy, though she quickly masked it.
"Finished with work?" she asked, setting her book aside and standing up with a smile.
Murray nodded, as if casually asking, "Did you make the oatmeal?"
"Yes, I did. How was it? Not to your taste?"
"Thanks for making it. Was it your first time?"
"Oh, I've made oatmeal before, just simple ones with maybe some berries or apples. But this was my first time adding so many ingredients. It was a bit more effort, but it's supposed to be good for the stomach, you know."
Murray's gaze sharpened. "Who taught you?"
Grace chuckled, pointing to the bookshelf "I noticed you had a lot of cookbooks. There was one all about healthy oatmeal recipes, so I tried one out. How was it? Did yo@like it?"
Murray gave a noncommittal nod, not saying anything further.
Grace took the hint and excused herself.
As she left, she saw Sadie coming downstairs with the empty bowl and couldn't help but smile to herself.
Roseanne finally couldn't ignore the urge to buy a car one ordinary evening, after she found herself stuck outside the lab, unable to hail a taxi.
Buy a car! Right now! Immediately!
The very next morning, she arranged to meet Leda and headed straight to the car dealership.
"Leda, I'm here. Where are you?" Roseanne called from the entrance.
"Sorry Anne, I was just about to call you. Something's come up at work, and I can't get away right now, so I won't be able to join you in picking out a car."
Leda's job often required her to deal with sudden issues, and Roseanne understood. Just as she was about to say she'd manage on her own, she spotted Owen Reynolds approaching.
At the same time, Leda's voice came through the phone again: "But I've asked my brother to meet you there. Don't worry, he knows a thing or two about cars and won't let you get ripped off."
Roseanne paused, looking at the man approaching her. He was tall, with an air of confidence that even his stylish glasses couldn't diminish.
For her first car purchase, having someone knowledgeable around was definitely reassuring.
"...Anne, put me on speaker. Owen, I'm entrusting Anne to you. Make sure she has a good time choosing a car. Got it?"
Roseanne raised an eyebrow. Have a good time?
Owen Reynolds cleared his throat, responding in a calm voice, "...Got it."
Only then did Leda hang up.
