Chapter 2663: Chapter 2664

He was right—without the case reopened, she and Ernest had been left struggling to uncover the truth themselves.

Ellis broke the silence with a gentle question.

“Would you like me to help you?”

Hadley lingered in thought, then slowly set her bag down and returned to her chair.

“What is it you’re after?”

“Don’t be so quick to push me away.” Ellis’s eyes narrowed slightly as he spoke with measured care.

“Give me the chance to show you what I can do. I’m here to stand behind you in whatever way you need.”

By seven o’clock that evening, both Ernest and Eric reached the Flynn Mansion at the same time.

From a sleek blue Maybach, Hadley emerged, with Ellis positioned steadily at her side.

Moments later, a Cayenne and a Bentley rolled to a stop one after the other, and Ernest and Eric stepped out, their gazes immediately drawn to the pair ahead.

Ellis moved closer to the newcomers after casting a glance at Hadley. He dipped his head politely.

“Mr. Flynn. Mr. Scott.”

Ernest gave a short nod.

“Mr. Gomez.”

Ernest then shifted his eyes toward Eric beside him.

“Mr. Gomez.” Eric’s brows knit together, and his gaze hardened.

With a faint curl of his mouth, Ernest added, “Well, isn’t this unexpected? Would you like to step inside and maybe have a drink with us?”

Instead of answering right away, Ellis looked toward Hadley. Her faint frown made him shake his head with courtesy.

“I appreciate the kindness, Mr. Flynn, but I have other obligations. Another time, perhaps.”

He lowered his head slightly in Hadley’s direction. His tone softened.

“I’ll head off now.”

“Alright.” Hadley gave a nod.

“Thank you for the ride.”

“Anytime… Mr. Flynn. Mr. Scott.” Ellis gestured toward his Maybach before excusing himself.

“Forgive me, I really must be going.”

He left without another word, sliding into the car before steering it toward the road.

“Did Mr. Gomez bring you home?” At last, Ernest faced Hadley and spoke with a searching tone.

“Were you out on a date with him?”

“Yes.” Hadley inclined her head.

“We went out earlier. Since I didn’t drive, he offered to drop me off.”

“I see.” Ernest’s reply carried a weight that lingered.

“Let’s head inside.” Hadley walked ahead without hesitation.

“They’re probably worried sick by now.”

“Alright.” Ernest gave his answer, though his steps remained unhurried.
