“What’s your name?”
“Hadley Pearson.”
“Who are you here to see?”
“Chelsey Williams.”
After completing the routine questions, the guard gestured toward the electronic signature pad.
“Please sign here.”
“Certainly.”
Following her signature, the guard notified his colleague through the internal communication system, then rose from his chair and guided Hadley deeper into the facility. Upon reaching the designated visitation room, she immediately spotted Chelsey waiting for her.
“Hadley!” Chelsey’s face lit up with genuine surprise.
“You actually came?”
She had assumed Hadley wouldn’t be able to make it today, given that the standard visitation hours had already concluded.
“I’m running a bit behind schedule,” Hadley said with an apologetic smile.
She deliberately avoided mentioning anything specific—particularly steering clear of any discussion about Linda—and instead asked about Chelsey’s current circumstances, just as she always did.
“How have you been managing these past few days?”
“Pretty well, actually…”
While listening to Chelsey’s update, Hadley nodded periodically with genuine interest.
“It certainly sounds like things are progressing well for you.” She continued, “I’ve brought you some items as usual. After they pass through security inspection, they’ll be delivered to you.”
“Hadley.” Chelsey’s head dropped as tears began to glisten in her eyes.
“You continue bringing me all these things? And… the money I’ve been receiving, that’s coming from you as well, isn’t it?”

The prison system allowed inmates to receive monetary transfers from family members, which could then be used to purchase essential daily items within the facility.
“Yes,” Hadley confirmed with a gentle nod.
“I’m concerned that the items I select might not match your personal preferences. Also…”
She dropped her voice to a confidential whisper.
“I’ve heard rumors, though I can’t verify their accuracy, that certain individuals in here can be quite challenging to handle. Having a bit of spending money never hurts, does it?”
Chelsey’s voice broke with overwhelming emotion.
“Thank you, Hadley, thank you so much.”
“I’ll gladly accept your gratitude.” Hadley maintained her warm smile.
“Can you put your mind at ease now? If you need anything at all, please don’t hesitate to let me know, okay?”
“Okay.” Chelsey parted her lips while gazing at Hadley, clearly wanting to voice something important but struggling with obvious hesitation. Her emotional state was unmistakably touched by the kindness.
Hadley felt certain that making this visit had been the correct decision. She simply needed to exercise a bit more patience—there was no need to rush things. After waiting this long already, there was no point in pushing too hard now. Chelsey would undoubtedly be cooperative when the time came for things to proceed smoothly.
