Chapter 2586: Chapter 2587

“Well… I’m sorry, Mr. Scott, but I can’t give you a definite answer.”

“Is there any way? Anything I can do?” he asked, though he already knew the likely answer.

At first, it didn’t bother him. Losing his memories hadn’t seemed to change much. Life went on.

But after learning his past with Hadley, everything shifted.

He realized just how dangerous that blank space had become. Everything he knew now had been fed to him by someone else. He had no way of telling what was real and what was twisted to serve someone’s purpose.

Even family could bend the truth when it suited them. And if someone with the wrong intentions figured that out, the consequences could be catastrophic.

The doctor hesitated, then slowly shook his head.

“Your condition doesn’t stem from organic damage, and it doesn’t quite fit psychological trauma either. That leaves us with very few options.”

“Tsk.” Eric’s brows drew together.

“So I’m just supposed to sit here and be passive?”

“Mr. Scott, try not to dwell on it. The more anxious you are, the harder it might become. Don’t force it. Spend time with family, close friends… people who know your past well. That kind of bond can do more than medicine.”

“So what if… I never remember anything for the rest of my life?”

The doctor paused, then spoke carefully.

“I can only tell you this—let nature take its course.”

From then on, Eric found himself waiting, checking his phone in the hope that Hadley would reach out and bring Joy with her.

But no message ever came. Instead, news reached him that Hadley had already moved into Flynn Mansion, and Joy was with her.

That choice came from Nyla.

She had left the sanatorium and gone back to the family mansion, and even with Ernest and Locke around, the place still felt strangely empty.

Ernest wasn’t someone who filled silence with words.

Locke took after him in that way. He was still young, but already kept to himself.

Once Hadley began bringing Joy over to visit more frequently, Nyla made up her mind.

“You’re not leaving again. Both of you should stay,” Nyla said with quiet firmness.

Hadley looked unsure.

“I don’t know if that’s—”

“What’s the problem?” Nyla shot Hadley a mild look.

“We’re family and this is where you belong. And there’s more than enough space for all of us.”

Although the Flynn family residence was sprawling, it lacked the life that came with a full household. The main house stood grand as ever, while the smaller units nearby remained untouched.

“If you think staying here feels awkward…” Nyla spoke with quiet certainty.

“Why not ask Ernest to get another house in the estate ready for you? That one in the south seems really nice.”

That way, they wouldn’t feel crowded, yet would still be close enough for daily visits and family meals.

“Would that arrangement work for you?” Nyla asked, her tone hopeful.
