Chapter 2542: Chapter 2543

“Okay,” Hadley replied.

At Poseidon’s Realm, the private room was already buzzing when Eric and Megan arrived.

“Eric!” Marshall called out, and then noticed Megan, his brows lifting.

“Megan’s here too?”

“What, not happy to see me?” Megan teased, shrugging.

“Should I leave?”

“Of course you’re welcome! Come in!”

“That’s more like it.” Megan glanced at Eric.

“I’m thirsty. Gonna grab a drink. You guys talk.”

“Alright.”

Once she stepped away, Marshall shot Eric a sly grin.

“So, why did you bring Megan tonight?”

“Why?” Eric raised an eyebrow.

“You really don’t want her here?”

“Don’t play dumb,” Marshall said, shaking his head.

“You know what I’m really asking here.”

He slung an arm around Eric’s shoulder, guiding him inside.

“Have you finally accepted her? Didn’t you say you didn’t remember her or feel that way about her, and that you couldn’t be with her?”

“Yeah,” Eric admitted, nodding. He had indeed said that.

He glanced at Megan.

“But what else am I supposed to do? We’ve been together for over a decade. Can I just walk away simply because I don’t remember her? What kind of guy would that make me?”

Marshall fell silent, mentally cursing Ferris for stirring up this mess.

“Still, you told me you needed time to come around to her. I thought you bringing her tonight meant you had made up your mind. But from what you’re saying…” Marshall trailed off.

“You haven’t, have you?”

Eric didn’t answer, his silence heavy.

“I’m right, am I?” Marshall pressed, a mix of concern and amusement in his tone.

“Did something happen to change your mind? Did Ferris pressure you to marry her soon?”

“No,” Eric said, shaking his head, a faint irritation rising in him.

“Just… drop it.”

Marshall sighed, knowing he wouldn’t get any answers.

“Fine, I won’t push. But…” He lowered his voice, glancing at Megan.

“With everything you’ve got going for you, you could be with anyone. Shouldn’t you be with someone you actually love?”

Eric, mid-sip of his drink, froze at Marshall’s words. They echoed something Ernest had once said.

Someone he loved? Hadley’s face suddenly flashed in his mind. His heart churned, alarm bells ringing in his head.

Gripping his glass tighter, he stared at Megan in the distance and said quietly, “I’ve been with her for over ten years. I must have loved her, and I should keep loving her.”
