Chapter 2414: Chapter 2415

Then Eric leaned his head back and looked at the sky. After several quiet beats, he suddenly took off running.

“Mr. Scott!”

“Eric!”

“Wait!”

Their footsteps followed close behind, voices bouncing off the high ceilings of the terminal.

Eric sucked in a breath, his chest rising and falling like he couldn’t get enough air. When he looked up, the plane was already shrinking against the sky, fading into the horizon. His eyes stung.

Everything around him began to blur at the edges. His throat felt scorched.

“Hadley! Come back!” he shouted, the words hoarse and aching.

“Eric!” Megan finally caught up, dragging each breath as if it weighed something. “Why are you doing this?”

Her voice rose as she pointed at the sky. “That’s a plane, Eric! You can’t outrun it!”

Without warning, Eric grabbed his head and fell to one knee as the weight of it all crushed him at once.

“Mr. Scott!”

Both Megan and Phillips reached for him at the same time, their hands locking under his arms to keep him steady.

Megan leaned in close, her voice sharp. “What are you doing to yourself? If Hadley’s leaving, then let her! She’s not the only woman out there. You could have anyone. Why run after someone who clearly doesn’t want to be caught?”

Eric snapped his head around, his stare sharp enough to cut. A bitter smirk curled at the corner of his mouth.

“Keep your mouth shut. You don’t get to say a word about her.”

That hit hard. Megan stood frozen, her stubbornness folding into quiet defeat. She whispered, “Alright, fine. I won’t say anything. Just… stand up, will you?”

Instead of accepting her hand, Eric jerked away. “Keep your hands off me.”

Megan let out a dramatic sigh. “Wow. Like I was dying to help you anyway.”

Once Phillips stepped in, Eric leaned on him and got back to his feet. Without a word, he reached into his pocket and unlocked his phone.

What was going through his mind?

Megan’s and Phillips’ eyes met for a second, both of them unsure of what Eric was planning.

Eric’s hand shook as he scrolled through his chats until he found Hadley’s name. He hovered over the message box for a moment. Then slowly, he started to type.

“Hadley, we’ve been part of each other’s lives for over a decade. We’ve shared five years of marriage, and the most beautiful gift of all—Joy. There was a time I let you down, and back then, I was too blind to see just how deep my feelings are for you. But things are different now. I love you, Hadley. You’re the only one I’ve ever truly loved.

I know Linda’s done more wrong than we can count, but we’re not judges or enforcers. All I did was trade her temporary freedom to keep you out of harm’s way. And yes, I told you my men would trail her to Ontmond—and they will. For Ernest, I won’t let her vanish without consequence. You have to believe me.”
