Terror and hopelessness twisted together, swallowing her whole.
The four bodyguards reached the red car just as Savannah and Elissa were found slumped inside, both unconscious.
Before they could pull either woman to safety, the white sedan barreled toward them at breakneck speed.
All four men sprang back, barely dodging disaster.
A split second later, another deafening crash shattered the air.
This time, the impact was even fiercer than before.
The red car lifted off the ground, flipped over, and spun through the air before plunging straight into the sea below.
As for the white sedan, it slammed into the bridge’s guardrail, the front half dangling dangerously over the water.
Not wasting a second, the bodyguards rushed back to Hadley. “Miss Pearson! We’re sorry we couldn’t react in time. We’ll head down right now and get Miss Holland and her mother out!”
Given how dire things were, Hadley didn’t even consider blaming them. She managed a shaky nod, her voice quivering. “Please… hurry!”
Without missing a beat, the bodyguards jumped into the water, one after another.
“Elissa!” Hadley’s heart felt like it was being ripped apart.
Tamara caught her as her knees buckled, steadying her and guiding her closer to the bridge’s edge. Hadley’s eyes searched the water below. The red car had vanished, swallowed by the waves.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she cried out, her voice cracking. “Elissa!”
Tamara held her tightly, letting out a heavy sigh. No one could have guessed that just minutes earlier, everything had seemed normal—and now, everything was in ruins.
Tamara kept one arm around Hadley and reached for her phone with the other. Multiple missed calls from both Phillips and Eric filled the screen. She wasted no time calling back.

“Tamara, what’s going on? What happened to Hadley?” Eric’s voice shook with worry. He’d been left on the line after Hadley went silent.
“Mr. Scott, Hadley’s safe,” Tamara answered, her tone somber. “But there’s been an accident. Miss Holland and Mrs. Brown are in the water…”
Sirens howled in the distance, growing louder as police and ambulances arrived. The scene erupted into chaos as rescue teams and medics jumped into action.
Police immediately took charge, directing the rescue and ordering the medics to help extract Ayla from the white sedan.
A few officers approached Hadley and Tamara. “Were you present when this happened? Please describe exactly what you witnessed.”
Hadley’s eyes stayed glued to the dark, churning water, every nerve frayed and raw.
Seeing her state, Tamara stepped forward to answer the officers. “At that moment…”
