“Alright.” Hadley picked up her phone from the vanity table. Her fingers moved quickly across the screen, and within seconds, the transfer was complete. She looked up. “Done. I just sent it.”
Chelsey stared at her, stunned. She fumbled for her phone, and when the notification appeared, her breath caught. “Hadley…”
It wasn’t a small sum. And Hadley didn’t owe her anything—yet she hadn’t hesitated to help.
“I don’t know what to say…” Chelsey’s tears fell freely now, her voice trembling.
“Don’t cry.” Hadley gave her a gentle smile. “If it’s not enough, just tell me. I’ll send more.”
“Hadley, thank you… Thank you so much.” Chelsey’s voice quivered as her lips shook. “You’re such a good person.”
“I’ll take the compliment,” Hadley said, handing her a tissue. “Everyone goes through tough times. Things will get better. Now be a brave girl, stop crying, and wash your face. We still have work to do.”
“Okay!” Chelsey nodded quickly, covering her face as she rushed off to the restroom.
Tamara, usually quiet, spoke up. “You really are kind-hearted.”
Hadley gave a soft smile. “It might’ve been a small thing to me, but for her… it could mean everything.”
She glanced in the direction Chelsey had gone, her thoughts drifting back to years ago—when she had been just as desperate and alone. It was Colleen who had reached out to her back then.
Tamara didn’t reply. After a moment, she picked up her phone and sent a message to Phillips. She wasn’t sure if it mattered, but she felt it was worth saying.
On the other end, Phillips received the message and immediately turned to Eric. “Mr. Scott, you’ll want to see this.”
Eric glanced at the screen, his expression tightening. “Chelsey… Hadley’s assistant?”

“Yes. That’s her.”
The next day, Friday, Hadley wrapped her scenes earlier than expected. She sent Eric a message: Just finished. Heading to take off my makeup. You can come pick me up.
So early? Eric’s reply came almost instantly.
Yup! Everything went so smoothly. Barely any retakes today! Hadley wrote back.
Impressive. I’m on my way, he texted.
Okay, she replied, adding a blushing smile emoji.
He sent back a kissing emoji. Hadley grinned and answered with a shy wink.
Holding her phone, she couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her face.
Eric was already on his way to the film set when he received Hadley’s call. Not long after, she stepped out, wearing a camel-colored trench coat—the exact shade of Eric’s. A matching couple’s set.
He jogged over and wrapped an arm around her as they walked toward the car.
