Chapter 2148: Chapter 2149

“Grandpa.” With trembling hands, Elissa pressed her forehead low in a deep bow. “I’m sorry. I have to go now…”

Understanding her pain, Hadley crouched down beside her. “Don’t worry about anything. When the time comes—” She left the word funeral unspoken.

“I’ll make sure everything is handled,” Hadley vowed quietly.

The promise made Elissa shudder, and she bit her lower lip until it almost bled. “I’ve been such a disappointment as a granddaughter,” she whispered.

“He never thought that.” Tears streaked down Hadley’s cheeks as she insisted, “He loves you and wants nothing more than for you to live your life well.”

“You’re right!” Elissa replied, forcing herself to breathe deeply and steady her resolve.

Even though her heart was breaking, Elissa understood that every extra moment in the hospital put everyone in greater danger, especially Hadley and Eric.

With Hadley’s help, she rose to her feet. “Let’s go.”

As they moved down the hallway, a nurse pushing a treatment cart made her way into Addy’s room.

Hadley kept a steady grip on Elissa, guiding her along, but before they could even make it to the exit of the in-patient wing—

For a brief moment, Elissa stood frozen, her eyes bright with tears. Then she whispered desperately, “I have to see what happened!”

Without another word, she pulled free from Hadley’s grip and ran back toward the room.

Hadley couldn’t bring herself to hold Elissa back. “Elissa!” she called out and hurried after her.

Meanwhile, over at the Flynn Group, Linda arrived with bags in her hands. “Since you barely come home, I brought you a meal and some clean clothes.”

Ernest remained silent.

Suddenly, his phone began to ring. He glanced down, and when he saw the hospital’s number, his heart leapt. He snatched up the phone at once. “Hello, this is Ernest Flynn.”

His face turned grim as he listened.

“Understood. I’m leaving now!”

Ernest set the phone down and barked an order to Quentin. “Get the car. We’re going to the hospital!”

Linda’s brows knitted together as she glanced at Jane and quietly instructed, “Let’s go too!”

Inside Addy’s hospital room, doctors and nurses rushed in as soon as the alarm was sounded. The curtain was drawn tight while the team worked desperately to resuscitate him.
