Eric appeared, making his way toward them with quick strides.

“Eric…”

“Eric!”

Their eyes turned toward him at the same instant.

“Hadley!” Eric called out, rushing to position himself at Hadley’s side, his eyes flickering toward Linda for only a moment before turning away.

Without wasting a second, he looked Hadley over carefully. “Did anything happen to you? Are you all right?”

Eric didn’t need to ask. He could immediately read the room.

Linda had arrived without warning, and it was clear she had come for Elissa.

She and Hadley had never gotten along.

Though confined to a wheelchair, Linda still carried enough spite to be a real threat to Elissa, who was now on strict bed rest just to keep herself and her baby safe.

And if it came down to it, Linda might hurt Hadley as well.

Hadley was caught off guard by Eric’s quick concern for her safety, even in Linda’s presence.

She shook her head, dismissing it lightly. “I’m fine.”

Then she turned to Linda and asked, “How did she get here? Did you and Ernest know about this? Did you let her?”

Eric stayed silent.

He felt a bit hurt, as Hadley still didn’t trust him.

But he couldn’t blame her. He had made too many mistakes.

Now wasn’t the time to dredge that up.

Eric dropped his head slightly and said in a calm and reassuring tone, “Don’t worry… I’ll take care of it.”

Hearing that, Hadley pressed her lips together as she watched silently, waiting to see what he would do.

Eric turned to Phillips and instructed with a stern voice, “Make arrangements to send her back. And call Quentin.”

“Alright, Mr. Scott.” Phillips nodded before stepping out to call on the Scott family’s bodyguards.

“Miss Harris, this way, please.”

“No! No…” Linda shook her head in protest, staring up at Eric. “Eric! Are you throwing me out?”

“I’m not throwing you out,” Eric replied with a frown. “I just want to make sure you get back safely.”

“What’s the difference?” Linda snapped with a bitter laugh. “That’s just a nicer way to say it!”

She jabbed a finger toward the hospital room, raising her voice. “Can’t you see what’s going on? That woman seduced Ernest! She’s a snake! I’m the one who has been wronged!”

“Enough!” Hadley’s voice rang out, sharp and furious. “Don’t act like you’re the victim just because you’re engaged to Ernest! He and Elissa were supposed to be married, but you forced your way in!”
