“Uh…” Zane rubbed the back of his neck, clearly uncertain. He remembered the threats those men made. “Maybe they got the wrong person? Maybe this is all just a misunderstanding.”
Seriously?
Hadley gave a quiet, bitter laugh. “A misunderstanding? Not even close. They kept bringing up Mr. Scott’s name and told you to stay away from his girl. Unless you’re involved with his brothers’ or even his father’s women… this had Eric written all over it.”
Zane’s brows pulled together as he gave it some thought. “If Eric really sent them, then he’s wasting his time. Throwing punches around won’t scare me.”
“You should get some rest,” Hadley said as she turned toward the car. “And if anything feels off—anything at all—promise you’ll call me, alright?”
Leaving him like that didn’t sit right with her. The mess he got caught in was because of her, and she knew it.
Once they were on the road, Hadley broke the silence and asked Tamara, “Where’s Eric now? I’m sure you have a way to contact him. Take me to him.”
Unexpectedly, Eric wasn’t at Scott Group. He was in Olisvale Bay.
At Olisvale Bay…
“You! Move it!” Eric slammed his phone down and pointed straight at Megan. His sharp and cold voice cut through the room. “Leave. Now.”
“Why?” Megan froze, stunned by the outburst. “You’re not feeling well, so I need to stay here and take care of you!”
Eric let out a mocking laugh. “I’ve got more than enough servants in this place. Do you really think I need you hovering over me?”
“That’s different!” Megan pouted and clutched his arm. “They’re just servants. But I’m your girlfriend—Ouch! That hurts!”
Eric gripped her wrist and coldly said, “I warned you nicely, but you chose not to listen. So don’t blame me for getting rude.”

Without waiting for a reply, he dragged her toward the door.
“I’m not leaving!” Megan fought back in his hold. “We were fine just a minute ago! Why are you suddenly throwing me out?”
Eric didn’t answer and just kept pulling her down the stairs.
Just then, a servant stepped forward and reported, “Mr. Scott, Miss Pearson’s car just arrived at the gate.”
At that, Eric froze. Once he regained his composure, he nodded. “Got it.”
“It’s Hadley again!” Megan’s eyes widened in disbelief, and then she felt enraged. “She said she wouldn’t come back! Her promises mean nothing!”
“Shut up!” Eric spun toward her, his jaw clenched. “She has every right to be here. You, on the other hand, weren’t even invited. You shamelessly forced your way in like it was nothing.”
“Eric… You…” Megan’s voice shook with fury, and her eyes turned red with anger.
But Eric was panicking. Hadley was probably already in the front yard. If she walked in and saw Megan, there’d be no way to explain it.
“Come with me!” Eric grabbed Megan again and hauled her back upstairs. “Have you changed your mind? You’re not kicking me out?” Megan asked, her tone hopeful.
“Get in.” Eric didn’t even look at her. He flung open the guest room door and shoved her inside. “You don’t want to leave? Fine. Stay here and keep quiet.” With that, he slammed the door shut.
