He quickly grabbed a towel and offered it. “Here, sir—please dry off.”
Ernest didn’t move. Cold tea dripped steadily from his hair as he ignored the towel.
Suddenly, he shot to his feet, jaw clenched, and kicked the coffee table with explosive force. The table flipped with a loud crash, scattering everything across the floor.
Quentin stood paralyzed, hardly daring to breathe. After years by Ernest’s side, he had never witnessed him unravel like this—not once.
Ernest and Eric couldn’t have been more different in temperament. For years, Ernest had been a picture of calm, emotionally stable and methodical in both work and life. But now, Quentin saw it clearly—Ernest could get angry too.
In truth, Ernest wasn’t merely angry—he was livid. And the reason was Elissa. Frustration boiling over, he yanked at his tie and barked at Quentin, “Tell security to stop her!”
Without waiting, he stormed out of the CEO’s office.
“Yes, Mr. Flynn!” Quentin responded swiftly, then hesitated. “Where are you going? Should we continue the meeting?”
“Cancel it!”
And with that, Ernest vanished from view.
“Miss Holland!” At the main entrance, the guards stepped in Elissa’s way. “Sorry, but you’re not allowed to leave yet.”
Elissa hadn’t expected that response. Anger flared, mingling with confusion. “Why?”
She had heard of people being denied entry, but never of being barred from leaving.
Realization struck—this was Ernest’s doing. She couldn’t help but wonder what he was trying to pull now.

Turning around, Elissa saw Ernest hurrying toward her.
“What exactly do you want?” Elissa was at a loss. Questioning him did nothing. Scolding him never worked.
“Elissa.” Ernest reached out, resting his hands on her shoulders, eyes fixed intently on hers. His voice softened. “Come back to me… I can’t live without you. I can’t stand seeing you with someone else. You’re mine—only mine!”
Hearing that, Elissa stared back, cold and unmoved. Her eyes didn’t waver—calm, indifferent. She said evenly, “Mr. Flynn, does your fiancée know you’re saying this to another woman?”
“I’m talking about you now!” Ernest’s grip tightened as his voice turned coaxing. “Come back to me. We have Locke… we can have what we had again. I’ll give you the life you’ve dreamed of—every project you want, I’ll make it happen…”
Each word hit Elissa like a jolt—unexpected and jarring. Then a dreadful thought crossed her mind.
“You…” Elissa’s mouth went dry. She pressed her lips together. “You don’t mean… you want me to be your mistress, do you?”
