Chapter 1809: Chapter 1810

“Why should I? Did I say anything wrong?” Noreen shot back, her brows knitting in confusion. “What’s gotten into you lately? Why are you always defending her?” This text is hosted at f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?.net

In her mind, she had carried and raised a son, yet all his concerns seemed to go solely to someone outside the family. This infuriated her. Now, her husband, who had never once raised his voice to her, was siding against her.

“Are you crazy? It wasn’t just me who decided things back then—”

“Enough!” Cade hissed under his breath and tugged firmly at her arm. “Look around. Can’t you see who’s coming with Hadley?”

“Who?” Noreen blinked and turned.

That was when she saw Ernest and Eric, walking up side by side.

Noreen opened her mouth to speak but clamped it shut the next second.

After the ceremony, the workers began their task.

Hadley and the rest quietly stepped aside to wait.

They had all risen too early that morning, and no one had managed to eat breakfast. Now that there was a lull, Hadley took the chance to distribute food.

The breakfast had been ordered ahead of time from a local restaurant, and it had arrived right on schedule.

She glanced around and was just about to call Zane, who was still taking care of Joy, when Colleen reached out to her.

“Take your time, Hadley,” Colleen advised. “You eat first. Zane can wait. He’s a man. He’s stronger than we are.”

Hadley chuckled and nodded in agreement. “Alright then.” She sat down beside Colleen and unwrapped her sandwich.

After a short pause, she turned to Colleen and said earnestly, “Brady already thanked you, but I haven’t had the chance to do it myself. You really did so much for all of this. Thank you, Colleen.”

“What?” Colleen’s eyes went wide. “Why would you say such a thing?”

“Huh?” Hadley blinked rapidly, her confusion even greater than Colleen’s. “Something’s wrong with expressing my gratitude when you’ve helped me this much?”

“It’s not that…” Colleen lifted her coffee cup and forced down the bite of bun lodged in her mouth. Her throat constricted uncomfortably. “You really don’t know? Zane never mentioned it? Haven’t you two crossed paths lately?”

“He didn’t.” Hadley’s frown deepened, bewilderment clouding her features. “He stopped by recently with documents, but… what should he have revealed?”

“Ah…” Colleen’s jaw dropped in astonishment.

Hadley remained completely oblivious? Zane had withheld this information? He’d passed up a golden opportunity to earn her appreciation?

Unbelievable! What a complete fool!

How could someone remain so utterly clueless about matters of the heart? This very pattern had once destroyed Zane’s marriage, and now he was repeating the same mistakes with Hadley.

Certainly, genuine care demanded actions over empty words. Yet sometimes, perfectly timed words carried equal importance. Without communication, how could Hadley possibly understand the depth of his feelings?

Despite Colleen’s previous declaration of neutrality between the pair, she couldn’t suppress her mounting frustration this time. Zane’s excessive restraint bordered on self-sabotage.
