“You’re here? Has Mr. Scott accompanied you? Did he arrive with you?” She instinctively retreated, her eyes darting around in panic. “You’ve hunted me down! You refuse to let me go!” she stammered, her voice quivering with terror.
Hadley frowned, attempting to explain. “Please calm yourself. I came alone, and I have no intention of harming you.”
“NO!” Ayla’s cry was sharp, her body rigid with fear.
Her face turned corpse-pale, her eyes burning with venomous resentment as she fixed Hadley with a murderous glare. “Why should I trust you? If you had any integrity, I wouldn’t have fallen to this state! Stay away from me!”
She shoved aside the nurse who had been supporting her and fled desperately.
During her frantic escape, Ayla crashed directly into Hadley while rushing past.
“Ah…” Hadley staggered backward, seizing the corridor’s handrail to regain her balance.
