“Here’s everything. Take a look and make sure it’s all there.”
“Okay.” Hadley flipped through the documents and nodded with a smile. “It’s all here. Nothing’s missing.”
A soft apology left her lips. “Sorry for making you come over.”
“It’s no trouble.” Zane waved it off, his expression light. “I was in the area anyway.”
While he tucked his briefcase away, Hadley’s phone began to ring—Brady’s name flashed on the screen. Find the newest release on Find[?]ovel.net
“Hi, Brady,” she said, shifting in her seat and lowering her voice. “Mr. Hayes stopped by to drop something off. I’ll call you back…”
“That’s alright.”
With a quick wave, Zane signaled for her to take the call. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll let myself out.”
Gathering his briefcase, he got to his feet.
Hadley rose as well, her phone still in hand. “Let me at least see you out…”
“Honestly, there’s no need.” A gentle laugh escaped Zane. “Didn’t Colleen already tell us? We’re friends—there’s no reason for all this formality.”
“You’ve got a point there.” Hadley relaxed and offered a soft chuckle. “Alright then. Safe travels, Zane.”
“Absolutely.” Zane nodded with a friendly grin and headed out.
“Brady? Is this about the cemetery? Did you get any news?” Stepping back inside, Hadley picked up where she left off on the call.
“I did. Colleen lent a hand.” A cheerful note colored Brady’s reply.
“You talked to Colleen about it?”
“I mentioned it to her the other day…”

A sigh escaped Hadley, grateful for Colleen’s thoughtfulness. “You’d better treat her right, Brady. Someone as genuine as Colleen isn’t easy to find.”
“You don’t have to worry, Hadley. I’ll take care of her—it’s not just because of this though.” Brady’s answer was steady and sincere. Colleen was, after all, the first girl he’d ever truly liked.
“Honestly, we got pretty lucky. As soon as I finished talking with Colleen, Kingsbridge reached out and said they had a spot that matched what we wanted,” Brady went on.
Hadley blinked in surprise. “Seriously?”
“Yeah, but since we’d already found a place, I turned down their offer.”
Brady let out a chuckle. “I couldn’t let Colleen’s hard work go to waste, could I?” Even if it had turned out the same, he wanted to honor what Colleen had arranged first.
“That makes perfect sense.” A true smile touched Hadley’s lips, and she felt genuinely glad for both of them.
Hadley glanced at her phone. “Is there anything else I should handle?”
“No, nothing at all.” Brady gave a reassuring shake of his head. “Everything else is straightforward. I’ve already put all the plans in place… except…”
His words trailed off, and he lowered his voice. “Mom and Dad… they’ll probably be there that day.”
