“Was his conception the result of… of what occurred on our wedding night?” The question emerged as barely more than a whisper. Sharp pain lanced through Elissa’s chest as she countered with her pointed question. “What other explanation could there possibly be?” Did Robin believe she had engaged in an extramarital affair with Ernest over the years or something?
“Exactly as I feared…” Robin’s gaze met hers with tortured honesty. “Elissa, please forgive me for what I’m about to reveal. I concealed a devastating betrayal from you. On the night we exchanged vows, I was with Linda.”
Robin wasn’t really sober that night.
Too much alcohol at the wedding banquet had left him dazed by the time he stumbled into the bridal suite. Caught in a blur of lights and shadows, he failed to notice that the woman in his arms wasn’t his new wife.
Morning came, and the space beside him was cold and empty.
Only later did Robin learn the truth—it had been Linda.
While finalizing the payment for the banquet at the hotel, a staff member handed him a phone, saying it had been found in the bridal suite. At that point, the phone had powered off on its own. It clearly didn’t belong to Robin.
Even so, Robin took it home, plugged it in, and waited. As soon as the screen lit up, Linda’s face appeared.
Shock swept through Robin. Like Elissa, he too had made a terrible mistake. Still, logic often takes a backseat when emotions run high. He buried his own wrongdoing but couldn’t bring himself to forgive Elissa for hers.
“Elissa.” Robin looked her in the eyes, guilt written all over his face. “This is on me. I failed you.”
That caught her off guard. Elissa’s lips parted slightly as a chill crept over her skin. Robin and Linda?
No words could capture the shock that ripped through her.

“Elissa.” Robin braced himself before continuing. “There’s no excuse. I messed up.”
But digging through who was right or wrong back then didn’t seem as urgent now.
“Doesn’t it strike you as strange? That night… how did you and Linda end up in each other’s rooms? What are the chances of that being an accident?”
A sharp breath slipped from Elissa’s lips, and her eyes clamped shut.
Silence hung in the air as she stood still.
Moments later, fragments of that night began rising to the surface. Without a word, she opened her eyes, her hands curling into tight fists. Read full story at FιndNovel.net
“When you visited my mom at Mayo Hospital… did you happen to see Linda?”
Robin blinked, caught off guard by the question. “No, I didn’t see her… Why are you asking? Was Linda at Mayo Hospital too?”
Back then, Linda had been present—but now, she’d already returned.
Elissa held back her thoughts, studying Robin in silence. “Thanks for being honest… It’s getting late. You should head home. I need some rest.”
“Elissa.” Robin leaned forward, trying to read her, but the dim glow of night made it nearly impossible. His concern slipped through. “Are you really okay?”
“I am.” Elissa managed a small smile. “I’m alright. I’ll go in now.” She lifted the bag in her hand. “Thanks again.”
