“No, everything’s still on.” Hadley shook her head. “Eric insists we move forward as planned.”
“Oh… that’s good.” Elissa exhaled, sounding genuinely relieved.
Was it really good?
Hadley lifted a brow but chose not to speak further on the issue. “So, when are you free?”
“I was just getting to that…” Elissa began listing a few possible dates.
“Also, check with Colleen. Her schedule is tight since she’s a doctor. I’ll try to coordinate with her.”
“No problem,” Hadley chuckled. “And if our schedules don’t align, we can always go separately.”
They chatted a little more before ending the call.
Still holding her phone, Hadley turned to look out the car window. Regardless of the circumstances, the wedding preparations had to continue without interruption. And most importantly, she needed to play her part flawlessly so Eric wouldn’t suspect a thing.
Elissa clocked out early, exactly at four o’clock.
As she walked out of the building, Sebastian was already waiting by the door.
“Miss Holland, please get in the car,” he said, opening the door for her.
“Thank you.”
Sebastian had been in charge of picking her up for the past few days.
The car headed straight to Locke’s school.
Ernest had been torn between work and hospital visits lately. Elissa had taken it upon herself to pick up Locke whenever she was free, then bring him back home.
At the school, she picked him up without any trouble.

“Miss Holland!” Locke ran straight into her arms and hugged her tightly. “Can we eat out today?”
Elissa raised an eyebrow. “Eat out, huh?”
“Yes!” Locke nodded eagerly. “It’s Friday, and there’s no school tomorrow. I can study a little less today… Can I treat you to fried chicken and burgers?”
Elissa laughed out loud.
The little guy clearly had cravings. Fried chicken and burgers were hard to resist, especially for someone like Locke, who had a chef at home and was used to healthy meals. With Ernest’s strict habits, junk food was practically forbidden.
“Miss Holland!” Locke cupped her cheeks and looked at her with pleading eyes. “Please?”
“Hmm…” Elissa pretended to think it over, then smiled and gave in. “Alright.”
A little indulgence now and then wouldn’t hurt.
Elissa pressed her lips together, pausing for a moment.
Robin’s brows furrowed as he took a guess. “Wait… is he Mr. Flynn’s son?”
“Yes,” Elissa confirmed with a nod. “He is.”
