“Linda.” Ernest’s eyes held a storm of emotion. “If you ever need help, just call. Coming back here on your own—do you even care if your legs get better?”
Linda let out a dry laugh, brushing off his concern.
Ernest paused, clearly baffled by her reaction.
“No surprise you two are ‘brothers’.” Linda gave a short laugh. “Both of you love pretending to be saints.”
“What are you getting at?” Ernest frowned, trying to understand. “You’re family to us. That hasn’t changed no matter what. We’re only worried about you.”
“Is that so?” Before he could go on, Linda cut him off.
She sat in her wheelchair, her friendly expression vanishing as she turned cold. “If you really mean that, break up with Elissa.”
Ernest stared at her, unable to believe what he just heard. “Come again?”
“You heard me.” Linda glared at him, her back straight and knuckles white on the armrests. She repeated, slow and unyielding, “I want you to break things off with Elissa.”
Ernest could hardly believe she was serious, but he could not figure out why she would insist on this.
“That’s not going to happen.” Ernest’s face clouded as he shook his head. “Elissa and I are engaged. We’re getting married soon.”
“Married?” Linda’s anger erupted, her voice trembling with raw emotion. “Don’t even think about it!”
Tears threatened to spill from her reddened eyes, and her chest rose and fell in uneven bursts.
“Have you even realized? The man who hurt me back then—it was Robin. Elissa’s own husband!” She looked sharply at Eric. Get full chapters from FιndNovel.net
“I’ve already talked to Eric. He confirmed it for me. If you think I’m lying, ask him yourself!”

Eric stared back at her, eyes wide with shock.
He only knew pieces of what happened… What was Linda saying?
“Ernest!” Linda reached for his arm, desperation etched on her face.
“I’m telling you, I know what I saw. Robin was the one who did it! That’s why I came back—I can’t let you end up with Elissa!”
Her voice shook as the tears finally slipped down, glistening against her lashes.
“Robin and Elissa—they’re together. One destroyed me, the other is pulling you in… They planned this from the start! They ruined everything for us. You can’t go through with this, Ernest!”
“Linda.” Ernest’s brow furrowed, his eyes heavy with concern. He answered quietly, “Elissa has nothing to do with that. She’s as innocent as you in this.”
“What?” Linda stared at him, startled by his words. “What do you mean by that?”
A chill crept up her spine. “Do you know something I don’t?”
She remembered asking him once before.
It was after Nyla accused her of holding back Hadley’s living expenses. It was after Ernest found out she lost the baby…
That was the first time she realized he might have known about that night all along.
