“Absolutely,” Colleen said, nodding. “It’s in his eyes. You’re the only one he sees.” She paused, and then added, “And the way he helped me without hesitation earlier, when he didn’t even know me? Says a lot about who he is.”
She lifted her glass and tapped it lightly against Hadley’s. “I just want you to be happy.”
Hadley smiled. “I am.”
For the past few days, everyone at the Scott estate had been busy preparing for Ferris and Milly’s wedding anniversary.
Each evening after filming, Hadley would meet with the main house’s butler to go over some details.
Because Milly was in a delicate condition, much of the planning naturally fell to Hadley.
On the day of the celebration, Hadley took the day off from the set and began managing things early in the morning.
She didn’t have to handle everything herself, but every detail still needed her sign-off. It wasn’t easy.
Thankfully, the guest list was limited to close friends and family, so the pressure wasn’t overwhelming.
Hadley knew there would be more occasions like this in the future—this was just the beginning.
By late afternoon, as the sky dimmed into early evening, Eric returned home from work. After changing, he made his way over to the main house.
“This looks good. Let’s keep it this way,” Hadley said, finishing her discussion with the butler. She glanced up and saw Eric approaching.
Without a word, Eric stepped behind her and gently massaged her shoulders.

“You must be exhausted,” he murmured. “Thank you for handling all this.”
“You’re just in time.” Hadley turned to face him, glancing at the clock. “Everything’s nearly ready. The guests should start arriving soon.” She hadn’t even had the chance to freshen up.
“Can you stay here and greet them for now? I need to shower and get dressed.”
“Of course.” Eric cupped her face and gave her a soft, lingering kiss. “Take your time. There’s no need to rush.”
Tonight wasn’t just Milly’s night. Hadley would be in the spotlight too.
“I know.” She said with a small smile.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the first guests arrived.
Eric moved to welcome them, giving the butler instructions to guide each one toward the lounge just off the main hall.
“Eric.” A familiar female voice called from behind.
Eric turned and saw Linda sitting in a wheelchair, her expression soft, her smile gentle.
“Long time no see.”
He frowned, his tone cool. “Hasn’t been that long, has it?” The implication hung between them.
