Chapter 1515: Chapter 1515

He turned sharply on his son, his voice rising. “How could you strike her? Elissa is your daughter!”

“Dad…” Becker began, a hint of defensiveness in his tone.

Becker showed no trace of regret as his gaze settled on Elissa. “Ask her what she’s done to deserve it this time.”

“Playing innocent, are we?” Becker scoffed.

A bitter laugh escaped Becker as he addressed his father. “Dad, Elissa got divorced from Robin!”

Elissa’s body tensed. They knew?

“She thought she could keep it a secret!” Becker exclaimed.

Becker continued, his voice laced with resentment. “But secrets never stay buried!”

He gestured sharply toward Louisa. “You tell them what happened!”

Louisa offered an uneasy smile, nodding as she explained to Addy, “I overheard it at a gathering with some of the other ladies. Apparently, Robin didn’t want the divorce, but Elissa insisted on pursuing it in court. Robin had no choice but to concede.”

“Outrageous behavior!” Becker’s glare intensified as he fixed it on Elissa, his anger reigniting. “Just imagine—Robin was still willing to stay with you after all the disgrace you brought upon him! You should have been grateful! Yet you dared to demand a divorce? Even dragged him through court? Ha…”

His lip curled into a sneer, his words like sharp shards of glass. “You’ve brought utter shame upon me!”

“Elissa?”

Addy was still trying to absorb the information.

He recalled that when he was unwell, Robin had accompanied Elissa on a visit. “Tell me, is this true?” Addy pressed.

Elissa couldn’t refute it. She nodded, her voice barely a whisper. “Yes, Grandpa… Robin and I simply couldn’t make our marriage work. We’re divorced.”

“Dad, did you hear that? I wasn’t fabricating this, was I?”

A cold laugh echoed from Becker. “Given your circumstances, you still dared to get divorced? How do you possibly expect to manage now?”

“So what, I’m divorced now?” Elissa retorted, her voice gaining strength. “Do you think I’m incapable of surviving after a divorce? That I’ll simply crumble?”

“You—” Becker’s hand shot up again, as if poised to strike her once more.

“Stop!” Louisa swiftly grabbed his arm, attempting to soothe his anger. “Please, don’t get angry… let’s try to talk this through calmly.”

“Look at her—do you honestly think she’s capable of listening to reason?” Becker scoffed.

“Elissa,” Louisa said, turning to her with a helpless sigh, “your father’s words might sound harsh, and he can be blunt, but he means well—he’s just worried about your future. Given your situation, it will indeed be difficult to find someone else after a divorce.”

“Then she simply won’t marry again!” Addy interjected suddenly, his voice firm. “She can still lead a fulfilling life without a husband.”
