Chapter 1513: Chapter 1513

Addy drifted off and eventually woke up in the afternoon, and Elissa was still there.

“Grandpa, you’re awake?” Elissa stood up right away, helping him sit up against the pillows.

“Are you feeling hungry? The servant dropped off your lunch earlier but didn’t want to wake you up. I’ll go grab it for you.”

“Thank you.”

Elissa brought the tray over and sat close, carefully feeding him each bite.

“Tell me, Elissa,” Addy seemed livelier now, though he watched her with a curious expression. “Did you come here on your own today?” She paused, then smiled softly and nodded. “Yes, I came alone.” Content originally comes from FιndNovel.net

“I see…” Addy’s brows knitted together. “Is Robin still working overtime?”

Elissa pressed her lips together and then answered quietly, “He’s caught up with work, yes…”

“That’s bullshit!” An angry voice sounded from behind.

The door swung open without warning. Elissa’s father, Becker, stepped in, followed by her stepmother, Louisa Holland.

It was clearly Becker who had shouted.

Both Becker and Louisa walked into the room. Becker shot Elissa a cold glare, making no effort to hide his irritation.

Louisa reached for his arm and said quietly, “Let’s not do this here. Addy is resting.”

Becker gave a reluctant grunt.

He forced himself to glance at his father, swallowing whatever complaint he had. His attention snapped back to Elissa. “Stay here after we’re done. I need a word with you.”

Uncertainty filled her eyes as she looked at her father, puzzled by his harsh tone.

A wry laugh escaped her as she forced a small, sarcastic smile. “Save your breath. There’s nothing for us to discuss.”

“What did you just say?” The words emerged as a challenge rather than a question.

Becker gaped at Elissa, astonishment etched across his features, his complexion rapidly draining of color as though he’d witnessed something unfathomable.

“Is this the manner in which you address your own father?” Indignation saturated every syllable.

“What demeanor would you consider appropriate under these circumstances?” Elissa’s query carried the weight of accumulated resentment.

In stark contrast to Becker’s growing distress, Elissa maintained a disconcerting composure. The faintest suggestion of amusement played at the corners of her mouth. “Your biological claim is undeniable—you contributed genetic material to my existence, yet since the dissolution of your marriage, your interest in my welfare has been conspicuously absent.”

She inhaled deliberately, the curve of her lips intensifying with calculated effect. “The purpose of continued dialogue between us eludes me entirely.”

“Inconceivable!” The exclamation burst forth like a physical force, crimson suffused Becker’s countenance, his extended finger trembling with unbridled fury. “You insolent child! Do you dare repudiate my paternal status?”

“I contest no biological facts.” Elissa countered, her brow furrowing as she met his gaze without flinching. “However, as your paternal concern has remained dormant throughout my formative years, its sudden resurrection appears both unnecessary and suspect.”
