The door to the director’s office opened.
Wesley sat in his wheelchair, staring at Adam with a gloomy expression.
The director of Glory Hospital was a prominent figure in Geniston. If he truly wanted to harm Sandra, even the Cooper family would have to step aside.
But Wesley wasn’t afraid at all.
When he ordered Joey to slam the door, he had already prepared himself for the consequences. But when the door opened, his expression stiffened. The scenario he had imagined didn’t materialize.
Sandra’s delicate face suddenly appeared before him. He didn’t know what they had just discussed, but there was a hint of mockery in Sandra’s smile. The atmosphere in the spacious office became somewhat eerie.
Adam stood in front of the desk, his face filled with eagerness, as though begging Sandra for something.
Wesley frowned.
Joey, clearly concerned about Sandra, asked, “Mrs. Cooper, did he bully you? I…”
Sandra chuckled softly, “Do I look like I’ve been bullied?”
Joey stood still, stunned. It seemed that Adam was the one who had been bullied. Joey glanced between Wesley and Adam, confused. Could it be that Sandra didn’t like Wesley because he was too young?
Wesley had regained his indifferent expression, his tone emotionless.
“It’s time to go home.”
Sandra seized the opportunity.
She turned and looked at Adam, who appeared reluctant.
“Mr. Deleon, I’m sorry, but we can only discuss this another time.”
Adam, sixty-five years old, had always struggled with his legs.
? d? g.?
When he heard that Sandra was leaving, he forgot about his own physical condition and hurried over.
“Don’t, don’t go, Ms. Hill, at least give me one condition.” He needed to know what he could do.
Joey’s mind began to wander.
Could it be that Adam wanted to be Sandra’s…
He immediately dismissed the thought.
What was he thinking?
Wesley was more handsome and richer. Sandra had no reason not to choose him.
Sandra smiled. “First, I want to know who the person you want me to save is.”
Adam had been avoiding mentioning the patient’s identity.
Sandra wanted to borrow Adam’s social influence, but she also had her limits.
If the person Adam wanted her to save was an unforgivable criminal…
Humph.
She would just insert a needle into the criminal’s head and let them suffer.
Adam suddenly hesitated.
Sandra snorted. “So, please think it over before we talk again.”
With that, she took a few steps forward and held Wesley’s wheelchair.
“I’m going home with my husband. Mr. Deleon, you can contact my husband’s assistant after you’ve made up your mind.”
She pushed Joey forward.
Joey panicked.
He really let his imagination run wild just now.
He had been despicable.
He even thought that Sandra might have had a connection with Adam before.
“Mrs. Cooper, I…”
“Give Mr. Deleon your contact information.” Sandra pushed the wheelchair and walked away.
Joey was speechless.
Although he was an assistant, his scope of responsibility was relatively small. Leo was more skilled in handling such matters.
So, he nervously exchanged contact information with Adam.
As Joey was about to leave, Adam suddenly grabbed his arm.
“Did Mr. Cooper only wake up after getting married?”
Joey gave him a disdainful look. “Isn’t your question a bit presumptuous?”
Adam smiled awkwardly. “I was just curious.”
Joey knew that Adam was curious about Sandra’s medical skills. Since Sandra had left him behind, she probably wanted to cooperate with Adam.
After “hesitating” for a moment, Joey spoke slowly.
“Mr. Cooper got married all of a sudden because Dr. Whitman concluded that he wouldn’t wake up and didn’t have much time left.”
Adam gasped in astonishment.
“Then…”
“You think Mr. Cooper is in a wheelchair because his legs can’t move?”
Adam frowned. “Isn’t that true?”
Joey rolled his eyes. “It’s because Mr. Cooper just woke up and is still weak!”
Adam was completely stunned.
His shocked expression improved Joey’s mood.
“Mr. Deleon, you’re not wrong. Mr. Cooper will be able to walk swiftly in a few days.”
Adam was about to run after Sandra.
He didn’t want to miss this remarkable doctor!
Even if she asked him to use a loudspeaker to introduce himself from the top of the hospital building, he would do it.
But Joey stopped him.
“Sorry, Mrs. Cooper is going to give Mr. Cooper acupuncture tonight. If you want to see Mrs. Cooper, you’ll have to make an appointment for another day.”
As he spoke, he proudly waved his phone.
Adam was speechless.
Sandra pushed the wheelchair out of the hospital. Today, she had put a lot of effort into waking up Oliver, which had left her feeling a bit tired. Under the streetlight, she was so sleepy that her eyes glazed over.
“I rarely use social apps,” Wesley suddenly spoke.
Sandra, who had been drifting off next to him in the car, was startled by his voice. She raised her eyes, looking confused and adorable—like a lost deer wandering in the forest.
Wesley swallowed subconsciously.
Sandra finally realized what he meant.
“Are you explaining this to me?”
Wesley quickly looked away and mumbled reluctantly, “Hmm.”
Sandra yawned, growing drowsy again.
“It’s not a big deal. Forget it.”
Wesley was speechless.
If it wasn’t a big deal, why had she run away from home? If it were something bigger, would she divorce him? The thought of Sandra possibly divorcing him made Wesley narrow his eyes, a hint of hostility flickering in them.
“I just…”
Before Wesley could finish his sentence, he felt something on his shoulder.
A faint smell of orchids instantly wafted up to his nose.
Sandra seemed exhausted. With her delicate face resting on his shoulder, her warm breath lightly fell on his neck.
It was warm and comforting.
Wesley felt drowsy.
Joey left Adam’s office and came out. As soon as he opened the car door, he saw the couple leaning on each other, both sound asleep.
He stood there dumbfounded for a long time.
Wesley had sleep disorders before becoming a vegetable.
Soon, his surprise turned into admiration for Sandra.
Sandra was amazing!
Wesley was on the road to full recovery!
