The employees in the technical department held their breath, fearing that even the slightest sound of their breathing would disturb Owen on the screen. However, there was something even more terrifying.
Currently, every computer in the company, as well as the large screens in the lobby, were broadcasting this live surveillance footage. It was Friday, and many employees had some free time.
The group chat was flooded with messages. The video of Owen attacking the company’s firewall spread quickly throughout the company. In less than a minute, everyone in the Cooper Group, including the janitors who usually didn’t use their phones, knew that there was a traitor in the technical department.
Owen’s name was soon circulating throughout the company. At first, everyone thought it was just a drill conducted by the technical department. But it didn’t take long before they concluded that Owen, after being fired, had held a grudge and intended to sabotage the company.
“Owen seems to still be in our company!” The news spread quickly through every corner of the organization. But it had only been two or three minutes since the incident started.
The people in the technical department also took notice. “It seems like Mr. Pope hasn’t left the company, but I’ve never seen this office before.”
“Didn’t you notice how luxurious it is? Only the higher-ups have offices like that,” someone whispered.
Sandra pressed the intercom button. “This is the technical department. Please send security personnel to the president’s office on the top floor. Someone is attempting to steal company information using internal computers.”
The technical department fell silent once more. Stacy muttered, “Maybe Mr. Pope just wanted to test the firewall.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Owen smirked on the screen.
“I have full access now. I will copy all the confidential files.”

Stacy felt embarrassed. She hadn’t expected this to happen.
Sandra retorted, “Are your drills usually this realistic?”
Stacy was speechless. Even during drills, they wouldn’t be given full access. The company didn’t allow it, and they wouldn’t do anything suspicious. Owen’s actions clearly exceeded the scope of a simple drill.
Other departments might not understand, but the technical department could see the code scrolling on the screen. It was clear now—Owen was genuinely attacking the company.
Sandra suddenly began typing on her keyboard and broadcasted the company’s surveillance footage. The security personnel in the footage were near the president’s office on the top floor. As they were about to knock on Debra’s door, Sandra spoke up.
“It’s the room next door.”
The security personnel didn’t knock; instead, they went to the adjacent room and broke down the door. Owen was stunned, looking toward the door.
“What are you doing…”
He was quickly subdued by the security guards. Almost simultaneously, the cyber police arrived. They didn’t need permission from the executives and immediately took Owen away.
Meanwhile, Sandra adjusted the screen on his computer. The confidential files were still in the process of being downloaded—60% of the files had already been copied.
The police took photos and collected evidence. Just when everyone thought the ordeal was over, Sandra sent a mass email through the company’s internal network.
The email read:
[Why was Owen near the president’s office? Mrs. Debra Cooper, please explain.]
Debra was in deep trouble.
No one dared to discuss it in the group chat, but they talked about it privately.
In the restroom of the president’s office, Debra stared at the email with a grim expression. Fortunately, she had left the office and went to her private restroom because she wasn’t feeling well. If she had stayed, she would have been seen by the security personnel. The board of directors would definitely hold her accountable, and she might even be fired.
Sandra… What a devious move! She had underestimated Sandra earlier! But it was her fault. She should have known that if Sandra truly only brought good luck, she wouldn’t have been able to wake Victor and Wesley. Sandra still had many secrets she hadn’t revealed!
Ring, ring…
Her phone rang. It was Jack Hale, the company’s second-largest shareholder. Jack was Terrence’s friend, and Debra knew she had to show respect to him. She couldn’t afford to ignore his call.
“Mr. Hale,” she answered.
“Debra, you’re really something!” Jack sounded furious. Debra felt as though she would be torn apart if she were standing in front of Jack right now.
She forced a smile and replied, “Mr. Hale, please don’t be angry.”
“How can I not be angry?” Jack roared. “How dare you allow someone to steal company secrets? Debra, you claimed you were helping Victor manage the company, but it seems like you’re trying to take it for yourself!”
Debra quickly tried to explain. “You misunderstood. I will issue a statement on the company’s internal network right now.”
Jack snorted. “It’s already caught the attention of the media. You better control the situation. If it starts trending, no one will be able to save you!”
Debra broke out in a cold sweat.
It had attracted the attention of the media? That would be troublesome. She suspected that Wesley must have blown things out of proportion. His goal was to bring her down. But she couldn’t let them have their way.
“Mr. Hale, please rest assured. I will handle it properly,” she said, hanging up the phone with a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
In the technical department, Sandra hadn’t expected the situation to escalate so quickly. She had believed that someone was helping her.
She took out her phone and sent a message to Wesley, adding a smiling emoji, but the message was rejected. They weren’t friends online yet.
Sandra sighed. She deleted Wesley’s contact information and put her phone away.
Stacy approached Sandra, but as she got closer, she felt an intense, cold aura emanating from her. Stacy hesitated and stopped in her tracks.
Sandra regained her composure and casually asked, “Do you need something?”
“Now that Mr. Pope is gone, are you in charge of approving the documents for our department?” Stacy asked.
Sandra didn’t want to take on the task and simply replied, “No.”
“Then… I think you’re right for the job,” Stacy said.
Sandra sat back down and opened the company’s internal network. Debra had already made an announcement.
