Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Sandra glanced at the person across from her. It was Owen Pope, the director of the technical department.

Owen was known as the most talented hacker in Geniston. He had previously single-handedly battled a foreign hacker alliance, defeating eighty to ninety people in the process. His undefeated streak in that battle earned him widespread recognition.

Afterward, he was recruited by the Cooper Group and became the director of the technical department. He was a night owl who preferred staying at home. Though not particularly striking, Owen’s most notable feature was his straight nose.

Sandra felt a sense of relief that he was easy to recognize, as it meant she didn’t need to memorize his name.

“Mr. Pope, do you need something from me?” Sandra asked, pretending to be clueless in front of Owen.

Owen, in his late twenties and about the same age as Wesley, stared into Sandra’s expressive eyes, hesitating for a moment. But then, he made up his mind.

He pulled out a USB drive and handed it to Sandra.

“Although it’s your first day here, you should start working. This USB contains some simple system assemblies. Take a look.”

Sandra accepted the USB drive and gave it a slight shake. “I’ll get to work right away.”

Owen felt a twinge of reluctance, but he had to follow orders. While he couldn’t outright reveal anything, he could offer a subtle hint.

“Well, it’s not urgent. You can… hold off on using the USB drive for now.”

Sandra wasn’t one to be easily swayed by others.

“It’s my first day, and I can’t afford to be lazy,” she replied firmly.

She walked to her desk happily and inserted the USB drive into the computer. When she saw the code on the screen, a smirk appeared on her lips. They were trying to frame her? A bunch of fools!

In the distance, someone from the technical department approached Owen. “Mr. Pope, should we take action?”

Owen closed his eyes. He had wanted to give this lovely girl a chance. But Sandra was so eager that he hadn’t even had time to prepare. “Let’s get started.”

The USB drive was about to be read by the computer. If Sandra removed it after using it, his efforts would be wasted. Sandra, however, had no interest in what was on the drive and only wanted to finish quickly. Without hesitation, she hit the return key.

“Oh no, the screen went black!”

“No, our system has been hacked!”

“Who would dare hack our department?”

Most of the people in the technical department were men, and they cursed loudly without restraint.

Owen barked, “What are you waiting for? Solve the problem immediately!”

They quickly began fighting against the hacker.

But…

“Mr. Pope, it’s not working. The opponent is cunning and knows our vulnerabilities.”

Owen’s face darkened. “I created this firewall personally. How is it possible for it to have vulnerabilities? There must be something wrong.”

At that moment, someone conveniently noticed something unusual on Sandra’s computer.

“Look at Mrs. Cooper’s computer screen! It seems like programming is being done to infiltrate our company!”

Everyone was stunned by the accusation. Many of those who hadn’t been involved rushed over to Sandra’s desk.

They were all technically proficient, so they immediately recognized it as an “insider system.” This system would directly roam through any network of the Cooper Group, recording their secrets and sending them to its owner. Usually, an email would be used for this purpose.

Just when everyone thought they had wrongly accused Sandra, they saw the icon of an email appear on her computer screen.

Owen quickly opened the email and found the prepared message inside.

The content of the email was:

[You managed to infiltrate the system, and I’m happy about it. Please send me the Cooper Group’s secrets as soon as possible.]

Owen’s face darkened. “Sandra, is it really you?”

Sandra replied, “Owen, why can’t it be you?”

Owen was speechless.

“Go get Mrs. Debra Cooper.”

He instructed the people around him to leave, worried about exposure.

Soon, Debra arrived with members of the board of directors.

“Sandra, I know you want to get more shares. But you just married Wesley, and you don’t have much experience managing the company. I just wanted you to make progress slowly,” Debra said earnestly, taking on the appearance of a “great stepmother.”

“How could you do such things? You’re making it difficult for me!”

Sandra retorted, “What do you find difficult? Being an honest person? You really know yourself well.”

Debra was speechless. They had already fallen out.

Today was the official declaration of war.

“Sandra!”

Debra expressed her disappointment. “You’ve done something wrong! Do you really want me to send you to…”

People who stole company secrets would be arrested. Sandra raised her head, a glimmer of light flashing in her beautiful eyes.

“So, Mrs. Debra Cooper, you think I used the core of the technical department to attack the company’s network?”

As she spoke, she looked around. “What do you think?”

No one dared to speak.

Debra sneered. “Fine, I’m calling the police. Sandra, you better learn your lesson in jail and stop trying to get something for nothing!”

Things were getting tense.

Something crossed Sandra’s mind, and she suddenly asked, “You think I’m harming the company, but what if I’m doing something beneficial for the company?”

Debra thought she was talking nonsense. She snorted inwardly but had to maintain a concerned expression on her face.

“Sandra, if you still want shares, I will consider giving you some of mine. But you must stop causing trouble. If the company’s network crashes, we will suffer even more losses!”

Sandra grew impatient. “What if I’m doing something beneficial for the company?” She intentionally raised her voice, forcing everyone to face this question.

Debra’s expression stiffened. No one had dared to yell at her like this before! Sandra was so bold!

Owen sneered. He was intimately familiar with the code, so he knew what was on Sandra’s computer.

“If you’re doing something beneficial for the company, I’ll give up my position to you.”

Sandra grinned. “Then what about you?”

“If I can’t understand such simple code, I’d better leave!” Owen said firmly.
