"You can't control me!" Karen snapped, her eyes flashing with defiance.

"Did you kiss him?" Jeffrey's gaze fell on her lips, his voice dropping to a dangerous low. "Or did you go even further?"

Karen wasn't about to back down. She clenched her teeth, determined to hurt him as much as he was hurting her. "Yeah, we did! He’s a million times more attentive than you, more skilled, and actually knows how to treat a woman with respect!"

She had no idea how deeply such a blow to his ego could wound a man like Jeffrey.

"Alright, fine." Jeffrey pulled out his phone and dialed a number. The call was picked up almost instantly.

"Mr. Turner! We're in the ambulance now, don't worry!" a voice reported from the other end.

"Weston," Jeffrey said coldly, "make sure that guy understands the consequences of his actions."

Hearing this, Karen panicked. Her bravado vanished in an instant. "Jeffrey, wait! I was lying! We never did anything—not even a kiss. It was our first meeting; we just had dinner and that was all!"

Jeffrey glanced at Karen’s pale face and then relented with a dry chuckle. "Forget it, Weston. Just ensure our friend Levi gets the medical care he needs. He clearly didn't know who he was dealing with."

Only when he hung up did Karen breathe a sigh of relief, her heart still racing.

"You're really that worried about him, huh?"

"I regret ever getting involved with a lunatic like you!" she cried, cursing the day she was blinded by his charm. She had thought Jeffrey could handle a simple fallout, but she hadn't considered his unpredictable nature.

"What can you do? There's no antidote for regret," Jeffrey said. He walked to his car, opened the door, and firmly guided her inside. "Just come with me."

"I don't want to! I want to go home!"

"Home? You think I don't know what you're up to? As soon as you leave, you'll be running straight to the hospital to see that Levi, won't you?"

"I won't! I just want to go to my own bed, okay?" Karen banged on the car window, but the reinforced glass of the Rolls-Royce didn't even vibrate. Jeffrey locked the doors and drove toward his residence. Interestingly, the restlessness that had plagued him all day vanished the moment she was finally back in his car.

...

Late at night, after Everett was sound asleep, Dorothy tiptoed out of bed. She first checked the kids' rooms, ensuring they were tucked in before she could finally settle her mind.

Whether it was jet lag or simply a restless mind, Dorothy found herself unable to sleep. She went to the living room and booted up her laptop, planning to finish the work Kevin had been handling. Considering how much she had added to Kevin’s plate recently, she figured he must be on the verge of burnout.

As soon as she logged in, she noticed Kevin's account was still active. She typed a quick message: "Kevin, you can rest. I'll take it from here."

"Ms. Sanchez, you're still up?" Kevin replied instantly.

"Yeah, jet lag. Might as well be productive! You go to sleep; you have to be in the office tomorrow."

Kevin didn't hesitate; he was truly exhausted. "Okay then, I'm logging off. Don't overdo it, you should rest too."

"Thanks, I appreciate everything!"

She closed the chat, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed her phone light up. A text message had arrived from an anonymous number, but the style was unmistakable.

[Back in Eldornia City?]

[Yeah, back now. How did you know?] Dorothy typed back, her heart skipping a beat.

After a short wait, the reply came: [Your phone's IP is located at Bay Residence.]

Dorothy gasped, a chill running down her spine.
