Chapter 104: Chapter 104

chapter104

Dorothy was still flabbergasted, completely at a loss.

To be honest, she had started to doubt if Everett had sustained a head injury during the car accident. Why else would he be saying things she didn’t understand all the time?

“I’ll give you some time to think it over. Let’s head back to the hotel.” Everett said that and resumed his position in the driver’s seat. His words were heavy with a sense of defeat.

Dorothy blinked. Noticing his hesitation, she finally plucked up the courage to ask, “Mr. Lopez, are you... planning to terminate our contract? You can just say it. I have no objections.” She would even happily support him getting together with Heather!

Everett raised his hand to rub his temples. Jeffrey Turner was right: Everett had no idea how he had gotten himself into such a mess. He couldn't understand why he insisted on making life difficult for himself.

The car arrived at the hotel. Kevin and a few assistants were already standing there to welcome them. They were quite surprised to see their boss emerging from the driver’s side.

“Dorothy, weren’t you supposed to pick up our boss?” Kevin asked, confused. Why was the boss driving her instead?

Dorothy gave him an awkward laugh. “Maybe Mr. Lopez feared I’d wreck his car.”

Kevin had nothing to say to that.

Everett took the luggage from the trunk and walked over to Kevin. “It’s too late now. Let’s have a meeting tomorrow morning. Everyone can go get some rest.”

“Sure, Mr. Lopez.” Kevin nodded while giving Dorothy a look indicating that she could leave.

But Everett suddenly ushered his suitcase into her hands. “Dorothy, help me bring my luggage up.”

“Sure.” She followed Everett stiffly, already imagining the shocked expression on Kevin’s face. Why couldn’t Everett have finished talking to her in the car? Why did he have to bring her to his room in front of everyone?

Thankfully, Kevin was good at keeping his mouth shut; otherwise, there would be rumors all over the company by tomorrow.

Dorothy followed him into his room with the luggage. Before she could even open her mouth to say something, he handed her a tube of ointment.

“Apply the ointment on me after I finish showering.”

After saying this, he took his robe and disappeared into the bathroom. Listening to the sound of the water, Dorothy was still in shock.

What was happening? It was completely different from what she had anticipated. Everett had neither brought up the termination of the contract nor chastised her for taking Kenneth to the hospital. Yet, she could still sense the lingering anger he'd shown at the airport.

After a while, Everett came out of the bathroom. His robe was loosely tied around his waist as he walked over to the bed and lay down. Seeing Dorothy standing still, he furrowed his brows. “Are you not coming over?”

“I...” She quickly walked over to the bed. Only then did she see the large wound on Everett’s leg. The skin around it was already turning black and blue. It looked painful.

“Should I call a doctor? I’m afraid I might hurt you more.”

“No need. I don’t like others touching me.”

He adjusted his position slightly to allow her easier access to the injury. Everett seemed completely comfortable with the proximity, but on the other hand, Dorothy felt her cheeks burning. She quickly averted her eyes from his form and focused solely on the task at hand, carefully beginning to apply the ointment.

While working, she suddenly thought of the text Heather had sent her. She hadn't seen these specific personal items when she was packing for him last time. A pang of realization hit her—these must have been new things Heather bought for him during their trip together.
