chapter731
"Cough, cough..." Roseanne choked a little.
Listening to a good story over dinner only to suddenly become the center of attention is a strange feeling.
And not a particularly pleasant one.
"We're not a couple, but this meal's on the house for Mr. Sullivan," Roseanne grinned at the owner, "because I'm picking up the tab."
The owner looked surprised at first, then glanced knowingly at Corley: Well, well, looks like your luck's run out, buddy!
After they finished eating, Roseanne offered to pay the bill.
The owner pulled Corley aside and lowered his voice, "Man, you gotta step it up. Win her over, or next time you're on your own paying full price!
Corley sighed, "You think I haven't tried?"
"Wow, so there's finally someone who can keep you in line. Impressive."
"Alright, let me help you out a bit."
Corley looked puzzled, "?"
Roseanne had already reached the counter, pulling out her phone to scan and pay.
After she settled the bill, she turned to Corley lagging behind, "Ready to go?" "Hold on a sec!" the owner interjected, walking over to the cash register with a grin, motioning for the staff to hand him something.
"...What?" the young woman behind the counter looked confused.
"The tickets."
"Oh, right!"
The owner took them and handed them to Corley, "Here, my sister got two tickets to a piano concert. I'm tone-deaf and wouldn't appreciate it anyway. Sitting there would be a waste on me, like pearls before swine! Haha... Since you're here today, consider these a gift."
Corley glanced at the tickets, eyebrows raised, "These aren't easy to come by. You sure?"
"Take them, take them!"
"Alright, then I won't say no."
As they left the restaurant, the owner waved them off.
Corley waved the tickets in the air and asked her, "Maxim's piano concert, want to go?"
"Maxim? Seriously?" Roseanne looked surprised, "His tickets are hard to get."
"Here, see for yourself..."
Roseanne scanned them quickly, and sure enough, they were genuine!

Roseanne looked up, "So... shall we?"
"Great! Let's head out!"
They each drove their own cars and met up at Aurora Symphony Hall.
They entered through the VIP entrance, had their tickets checked, and took their seats.
At four in the afternoon, the concert began.
The moment Maxim appeared on stage and bowed to the audience, the applause was thunderous.
Roseanne, sitting in the prime center spot, clapped enthusiastically, even saying something.

Roseanne turned, still clapping, "I said "
Corley leaned in further to hear.
Roseanne continued, "He's incredibly charismatic."
Corley raised a brow, "How so?"
Without hesitation, Roseanne replied, "He's handsome and plays piano
beautifully!"
Handsome?
Corley smirked.
He could play too!
The opening piece was a classic, "Flight of the Bumblebee," with a modern twist
that made it refreshingly new.
By the end of the piece, Roseanne's hands were sore from clapping.

Roseanne was utterly absorbed in the music.
Corley, however, was distracted.

Every now and then, he glanced over or stole side glances, his attention entirely
